Every ten years the residents of Oberammergau perform their spellbinding Passion Play in a specially created open-air theatre; a tradition that has remained since the village swore an oath to perform if they were spared the plague in the 17th century. This world-famous production dedicated to the life and passion of Jesus is included on this enthralling holiday, during which we also discover the fascinating UNESCO-listed city of Salzburg to see world-famous medieval and Baroque buildings such as Leopoldskron Palace and Hellbrunn Palace. The breathtaking lake district of Salzkammergut and the grand Hohenwerfen Fortress, home to Austria’s first Falconry Museum, will also be visited.
