Day 1 - UK - Málaga - Granada

Day 2 - Granada
Granada combines traditional Spanish character with strong Islamic architectural influences and has attracted travellers for centuries. Visit the Alhambra Palace, known as the ‘Red Castle’ for its russet-coloured stone. One of the best-preserved medieval Arab palaces, it is widely regarded as one of the world’s great historic sites. The visit also includes the Generalife Gardens, once the setting for the summer palace, with shaded walkways, fountains and landscaped terraces. Please note that there is a considerable amount of walking involved today.

Day 3 - Cordoba
Travel to Cordoba for a two-night stay. En route, visit an olive oil mill for a tasting followed by a stop in Alcalá La Real for some time at leisure to purchase lunch.

Day 4 - Cordoba
Explore Cordoba today, one of Europe’s most important cities in the 11th century, where Muslim, Christian and Jewish communities lived side by side. Its most recognisable landmark, Mezquita, is one of the largest mosque-cathedrals in the world and a notable monument in Spain. Spend time in the historic centre, where cobbled streets lead to open squares and churches, and where Gothic and Mudejar architectural styles sit alongside one another. A guided walking tour is included, featuring a visit to the Mezquita. Travel in May and you’ll experience Cordoba’s Fiesta of the Patios, a UNESCO recognised event where locals adorn their courtyards and patios with flowers and decorate the walls with pots of colourful arrangements. Return to the hotel by coach for an afternoon at leisure or alternatively remain in the city to explore independently and take a leisurely 30-minute walk back to the hotel.

Day 5 - Cordoba - Seville
Travel to the Andalusian capital, Seville. A guided tour includes the Alcázar of Seville, a former Moorish palace and fortress, and Seville Cathedral, the third largest cathedral in the world and burial place of Christopher Columbus. The cathedral stands on the site of the former Great Mosque. The tour also takes in the old Jewish quarter, María Luisa Park and Plaza de España.

Today is free for you to make the most of Seville. Perhaps spend some time wandering along the riverbanks and explore the old neighbourhoods of Triana. Why not prebook an evening optional flamenco show with included tapas dinner and transport.

Day 7 - Jerez
Travel to Jerez, a city long associated with the production of sherry. Visit a local bodega for a tasting accompanied by tapas. The town is also known for its equestrian heritage, particularly Arabian and Andalusian horse breeding. The afternoon is at leisure to explore. Consider wandering through the city’s small squares, such as Plaza de la Asunción, or continue discovering the region’s sherry traditions at a local bodega.

Day 8 - Ronda
Travel through winding mountain roads to reach Ronda, one of Andalucía’s most distinctive whitewashed towns. Known since Roman times, the city is set dramatically above the El Tajo gorge, spanned by an impressive medieval bridge. Ronda is also considered the birthplace of modern bullfighting, and Spain’s oldest bullring can be found in the town centre. The city held a special place for Orson Welles, whose ashes are buried here.
