London is truly magical at Christmas, when millions of lights twinkle over the streets, and pop-up Christmas markets across the city fill the air with festive songs, whiffs of glühwein and swirls of a carousel. This festive break combines the capital’s tradition and grandeur with a carol concert at the world-famous Royal Albert Hall, performed by some of the country’s most talented musicians. We visit Westminster Abbey, an incredible monument that has played a remarkable role in Britain’s history, linked with hundreds of names of royalty, writers, explorers and inventors who have all shaped our country. We also embrace London’s ever-changing skyline with a ride on the London Eye, one of the city’s newer landmarks and Britain’s tallest Ferris wheel, for incredible views over the Thames and far beyond.

Day 2 Christmas Eve - Royal Albert Hall Carol Concert
After a leisurely start, we make our way to the beautiful Royal Albert Hall for a midday performance of Carols at Christmas. The Royal Choral Society and National Youth Choir of Great Britain join together with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and Her Majesty’s Coldstream Guards to perform traditional carols and favourite festive songs, with opportunities to join the ensemble in celebration. The incredible sound of the massed voices within the grandeur of Britain’s most famous concert hall cannot fail to impress. We follow this two-hour performance with an included lunch at the Royal Albert Hall then, as the light is starting to fade, we take a drive through London to see the Christmas lights as we meander back towards the hotel.
Day 3 Christmas Day - London
Enjoy a relaxed day of celebrations, starting with a drinks reception before a traditional Christmas Day lunch with an included glass of wine. Christmas cake is served this afternoon during the Queen’s Speech and, for those who are still hungry, a buffet dinner is offered this evening.
Day 4 Boxing Day - Westminster Abbey - London Eye
This morning we visit Westminster Abbey, one of the world’s finest buildings. Kings, queens, statesmen, soldiers, poets, priests, heroes and villains all feature in its story. All English and British monarchs bar two, have been crowned here since the coronation of William the Conqueror on Christmas Day in 1066, and it has been the setting of 16 royal weddings including the marriage of Prince William and Kate Middleton. Over 3,000 famous men and women are buried at the Abbey, including 17 British monarchs; and Poets' Corner is the final resting place of countless writers including Chaucer, Dickens, Blake, Kipling and Lord Tennyson, and a shrine to many more. The facts are endless but you will have time to take in all that is held within this magnificent Abbey, dressed for Christmas. We make our way across the Thames to the Southbank, where you can take your choice for lunch. Then this afternoon, we board the London Eye for a gentle 30-minute journey. From its peak at 135m, this modern landmark offers views across London’s rooftops, with iconic spots like Parliament and Westminster Abbey not far away. We return to the hotel for tea, coffee and mince pies, and dinner a little later.
