Celebrate Christmas in Nottingham, staying in the centre of a city rich in history and folklore. Renowned for its links to Richard the Lionheart and the legendary outlaw Robin Hood, the city also became internationally important in the Industrial Revolution when textiles, in particular lace-making, were a prominent source of the city’s wealth. In the neighbouring county of Derbyshire are the rolling hills of the Peak District. Excursions are included to explore this beautiful countryside aboard a steam train and also on a visit to the lovely town of Bakewell.

Day 2 Christmas Eve - Peak Rail Preserved Railway
After breakfast we depart for Rowsley South Station in the neighbouring county of Derbyshire, for an included trip on the Peak Rail steam train. The Midland Railway route once linked Derby and Manchester through Derbyshire’s limestone hills and across magnificent viaducts and has been described as Britain’s most scenic line. We return to our hotel for an afternoon at leisure. Perhaps take a stroll into Nottingham’s city centre. Its excellent shopping facilities and cafés are a good place to spend your time, or perhaps wander as far as Nottingham Castle, that dominates the city’s skyline. In the evening, settle down to a Christmas Eve dinner, with tea, coffee and mince pies to follow. Then this evening a singer will provide festive entertainment.
Day 3 Christmas Day - Nottingham
Christmas Day is yours to spend as you wish. A glass of celebratory wine or sparkling wine and a sumptuous Christmas lunch will be served, with tea, coffee and mince pies. In the evening dinner is also included to finish off the festive celebrations. In your free time, maybe take a stroll around the local area to explore.
Day 4 Boxing Day - The Peak District - Bakewell
After breakfast, an included excursion takes you on a panoramic tour of the Peak District, the first national park in England, with breathtaking views over boundless natural beauty. Enjoy free time exploring Bakewell, the ancient capital of the Peak. With the River Wye meandering through the centre of this charming old market town, it is a lovely place to explore as well as being the birthplace of the Bakewell Pudding and an interesting destination for historians. People resided here as far back as the Iron Age and two of the spring wells which drew settlers here still exist. We return to the hotel for the afternoon and dinner will be served this evening, followed by entertainment.
