Christmas Eve - Peak Rail Preserved Railway
We depart for Rowsley South Station in the neighbouring county of Derbyshire. The Midland Railway route once linked Derby and Manchester, via limestone hills and magnificent viaducts and we’ll take a journey on the Peak Rail steam train, described as Britain’s most scenic line. We’ll return to the hotel for the afternoon and then we’ll settle down to a Christmas Eve dinner, with evening entertainment to follow.
Christmas Day - Nottingham
Christmas Day is yours to spend as you wish. A sumptuous Christmas lunch will be served and Santa may even make an appearance. Break up your afternoon with tea, coffee and cake before a light dinner this evening. In your free time, maybe take a stroll around the local area to explore.
Boxing Day - Wollaton Hall
After a relaxing Christmas Day, we’ll take an excursion to Wollaton Hall. This 16th-century property is considered one of the country’s finest Grade 1-listed Elizabethan mansions and is set within 500 acres of rolling parkland. On arrival we’ll take a guided tour of the house, for an introduction to its history. Spanning over 500 years, you’ll explore its wealth and grandeur in comparison to the lowlier basement kitchen. A cream tea is included in our visit, before we return to the hotel later.
