Day 2 - Prague

A tour of Prague's Old Town introduces us to the unique characteristics of the capital of the Kingdom of Bohemia, the Holy Roman Empire, Czechoslovakia and the Czech Republic. The ‘City of a Hundred Spires’ survived centuries, with a mix of Pre-Romanesque, Romanesque, Gothic, baroque, rococo, art nouveau and cubist architecture to prove it.
Spend the afternoon exploring at leisure, or take an optional excursion to Prague Castle, where a collection of palaces, churches, monasteries and gardens overlook the city.

Day 3 - Litomerice

Spend the morning cruising to Litomerice, one of the oldest Bohemian cities, established on the site of a Slavic fort. An optional guided tour takes in the charming, multi-coloured Gothic, baroque and Renaissance buildings, and offers opportunities to sample local wine and beer. We'll return to our ship in Roudnice for an evening of onboard entertainment.

Day 4 - Bad Schandau - Dresden

Relax as we cruise to Bad Schandau for an excursion to the Elbe Sandstone Mountains. Strange rock formations, table mountains and gorges carve through the area. We'll discover the remote Königstein Fortress, one of the largest hilltop fortresses in Europe. It was used as a retreat for Saxon monarchs, a prisoner-of-war camp and a re-education camp for delinquent youths. We'll stop at the jagged Bastei rocks, towering above the Elbe, before returning to the river and reaching Dresden in the evening.

Day 5 - Dresden - Meissen

The morning is dedicated to the city known as the ‘Florence of the Elbe’. Dresden’s list of attractions includes Altmarkt Square, the Baroque Quarter (containing the Zwinger, Semper Opera House, the cathedral and Royal Palace), the Volkswagen Transparent Factory, and magnificent Elbe-side promenades. After our tour, we'll cruise towards Meissen, where you can take an optional guided tour of the city, famous for its trademark porcelain.

Day 6 - Wittenberg

After a morning of gentle cruising, we reach Wittenberg. Explore at leisure, or take an optional guided tour to discover the city and its noble Renaissance-style houses. You'll also visit a former Augustinian monastery, which became the home of theologian Dr Martin Luther and is now the UNESCO-listed Reformation Museum. Luther gave some of his sermons in the Castle Church, and nailed his 95 Theses to the door.

Day 7 - Magdeburg - Genthin - Berlin

This morning, you have the option to visit Magdeburg. The city’s sacred monuments include a Gothic cathedral that entombs Emperor Otto the Great, the first Germanic Holy Roman Emperor. We return to the ship in Genthin and continue towards Berlin.

Discover the fascinating history of Berlin, once the iconic representation of a world divided in two. We'll see the Victory Column, the Bismarck Memorial, Brandenburg Gate and the Reichstag building with its steel and glass cupola.
The afternoon is free to see the capital in more detail, or take an optional excursion to the gardens at Sanssouci Palace. The former residence of Frederick the Great was hugely influential. Tonight we’ll revel at our farewell gala dinner.
