    Early morning arrival in La Coruña, where a treasure-trove of historic sites await your exploration. Whilst here, perhaps follow in the footsteps of countless pilgrims on an optional excursion to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Santiago de Compostela.

    As we sail towards Cádiz, you’re free to do as much (or as little) as you wish. Maybe start your day off with a brisk walk around the deck. Or opt for a yoga class. Spend the afternoon learning a craft or perfecting your golf swing. After your choice of dinner, you can catch a show or dance into the night.

    Day 5 - Christmas Eve - Cádiz

    Cádiz, one of Europe's most ancient cities, hugs Andalucia’s sunlit Atlantic coast. The fascinating Old Town district features huge 16th-century stone walls and a wealth of historic highlights, whilst traditional tapas bars serve delicious cuisine and local seafood.

    Cádiz is also the gateway to the stunning city of Seville, with its maze of courtyards, atmosphere old quarters and ornate churches and cathedrals.

    Day 7 - Boxing Day - Arrecife, Lanzarote

    The bustling port of Arrecife on Lanzarote’s east coast was regularly attacked by pirates in the 16th and 17th centuries and two castles were constructed as a defence. They both - Castillo San Gabriel and Castillo San Jose - now house interesting museums and the latter has an excellent restaurant in its basement with panoramic views over the harbour. Today, Arrecife is a quirky hotchpotch of sun-bleached buildings and a Mediterranean-style promenade.

    Day 8 - Las Palmas, Gran Canaria

    Be sure to wander into the heart of Las Palmas, rich with historic buildings of all shapes and sizes - including the impressive Cathedral Santa Ana, which took nearly four centuries to complete. Alternatively, take one of the many excursions available to explore Gran Canaria’s stunning scenery or beautiful towns, try a dolphin-watching cruise or take a gentle trek on a horse.

    Day 9 - Santa Cruz, Tenerife

    Tenerife is a hugely popular cruise destination; whitewashed homes and boutique shops lead down to the colourful waterfront where incredible beaches bask in the year-round sunshine. If you prefer to spend your day exploring, excursions cover a wealth of tastes. Travelling inland, you’ll soon be greeted with sights of sacred Mount Teide; its snow-tipped peak is the highest in all of Spain at 12,000 ft.

    Day 10 - San Sebastian, La Gomera

    The pretty town of San Sebastian on La Gomera, one of the less visited islands of the archipelago, greets us this morning. It was here that Columbus prepared his ships before sailing for America, and La Asuncion’s church, where he and his crew attended mass, still stands today. The island’s most stunning natural attraction is the Garajonay National Park, offering magnificent views across the ravines and forests, plunging steeply into the sea.

    Day 11 - Santa Cruz, La Palma

    La Palma’s small, yet pretty capital city is one of the Canary Islands’ authentic gems, boasting colonial-style architecture, palaces and churches, and plenty of beaches, restaurants and bars to relax. Santa Cruz is typically Canarian and offers something for everyone.

    Day 12 - New Year’s Eve - Funchal, Madeira

    Located off the coast of Africa, Funchal has a timeless charm, delightfully enhanced by a benign climate that fills this 'floating garden' with the year-round colours and perfumes of subtropical flowers and fruit. Then later this evening, celebrate the dawn of a New Year in style, with dazzling views from the ship of the spectacular Funchal Fireworks.

    As we sail home you may want to rest after the New Year celebrations. If you’re still full of energy, there‘s lots to fill your time - from quizzes, games and music recitals to walks on deck and dance classes. And of course, there’s plenty of opportunity to enjoy all the tasty food options.

    Two more days at sea. Enjoy a hearty breakfast each day, then take your pick from the variety of activities on board. Show off your general knowledge in an afternoon or evening quiz. Try your hand at bridge, bingo or deck quoits. Or indulge in a traditional afternoon tea to while away your time. Top off the day with a sumptuous dinner or a simple tasty buffet.
