Think Greece and you might think of sun, sand and sea. But we like to dig a little deeper on our Greece tours – after all, they’ve got plenty to offer.
There’s the history, of course. Everyone from the Minoans to the Knights of St John left their mark here, while tales of mythical monsters and ancient gods add a layer of intrigue. The country is rich in tradition, too. Browse the local shops and you might find delicate silver filigree or beautifully embroidered textiles, made using techniques passed down through the generations.
Greece touring holidays give you time to enjoy the good life, too. Rising early for a morning dip in the Mediterranean before a day’s sightseeing. Sipping an icy frappé at a harbourside café. Enjoying long lunches in the sunshine and even longer dinners beneath starry skies, grazing on mezze and swapping stories with new friends.
So, where to visit first? How about Corfu, a glorious, green speck in the Ionian Sea? Or there’s Crete, where we’ll explore windmill-dotted plains and Venetian old quarters. For an island-hopping adventure, the Dodecanese isles are ideal – start in historic Rhodes, before moving on to admire Symi’s pastel-coloured harbour town and Leros’ whitewashed towns and pretty, pebbled bays. Wherever you choose to explore, Greece is a destination that’s sure to delight.

Everything from your transports and transfers (including ferry tickets) to your excursions has been taken care of, so your holiday will be hassle-free from the get-go.
While you’re away, you’ll be accompanied by a knowledgeable tour manager. They’re there to ensure the trip runs smoothly and safely, and can help with anything from organising extra excursions to recommending a restaurant for dinner.
In a word: delicious! Greek cuisine is all about fresh, local produce, making the most of what’s in season. On the islands, just-landed fish is almost always on the menu, cooked simply with olive oil, lemon and herbs. Each island tends to have its own speciality, from Corfu’s sofrito (a rich meat stew) to Crete’s tasty spin on a Greek salad, known as dakos. Honey is often on the dessert menu, whether it’s drizzled over fresh fruit or mixed with nuts and sandwiched between filo to make a slab of sticky baklava.
The currency in Greece is the Euro. Credit and debit cards are widely accepted, though we'd recommend carrying a small amount of cash with you as well.
Currently, UK residents don’t need a visa to travel in Europe, as long as the stay is less than 90 days. From 2024, you may need to apply for a visa waiver – our travel advisors can let you know more on the visa requirements for holidays to Europe when you book. In some places, it's fine to drink tap water; in others, bottled is recommended. For peace of mind, we'd suggest sticking to bottled or filtered water.
For service in restaurants or cafes, a tip of 5-10 percent will be appreciated, though it's not expected. For a local guide, you might like to tip a couple of euros at the end of the tour - your tour manager can advise you if you're unsure. In some places, you'll need to pay a hotel tax on check-out; this is usually between €1-4 per person, per night.
You'll need an adaptor for any electrical items - for Greece a Type C or F adaptor is required with two round pins.
