Day 3 - Boston - Laconia
Depart Boston early and travel to Lexington Battle Green, where the opening shots of the American Revolution were fired in April 1775. Continue to Minute Man National Historical Park, which preserves key battle sites and tells the story of the early Revolutionary War. Cross into New Hampshire and arrive at Lake Winnipesaukee, the state’s largest lake, spanning 72 square miles and dotted with more than 250 islands. Board the historic M/S Mount Washington for a scenic cruise through forested bays, particularly striking during the autumn foliage season. After free time at Weirs Beach, continue to the hotel for an overnight stay.

Enjoy time to explore the village green, boutiques and covered bridges before continuing to Burlington, set on the shores of Lake Champlain, for a two-night stay.

Day 5 - Stowe
Travel to the mountain resort of Stowe, known for its classic New England scenery and ski heritage. View the Trapp Family Lodge and learn about the real-life story of the von Trapp family, whose history inspired The Sound of Music. Continue to Morse Farm Maple Sugarworks, where maple syrup has been produced for generations using traditional methods. Learn about the sugaring process and sample a range of maple products before returning to Burlington.

Day 6 - Burlington - North Conway
Journey towards White Mountain National Forest, where the landscape becomes increasingly mountainous and scenic. Stop at Pinkham Notch for views of the Appalachian Mountains, including Mount Washington, the highest peak in the northeastern United States. Continue to Diana's Baths for a short, easy walk to a series of small waterfalls and cascades. Arrive in North Conway for an overnight stay.

Day 7 - White Mountains – Kancamagus Scenic Highway
Travel through Crawford Notch State Park to Bretton Woods, where the 1944 Bretton Woods Conference established the post-war global financial system. Continue to Flume Gorge, a natural granite gorge with boardwalk trails, waterfalls and one of New Hampshire’s oldest covered bridges, and enjoy a picnic lunch. In the afternoon, drive the Kancamagus Scenic Byway, a 34-mile route through the White Mountains National Forest, widely considered one of the best locations in New England to view autumn foliage.

Day 8 - North Conway - Portland
Board the Conway Scenic Railroad for a heritage rail journey through the surrounding countryside, offering views of forests, rivers and mountain scenery. Spend time at leisure exploring the Old Port district, characterised by cobbled streets, 19th-century brick buildings, independent shops and galleries.

Day 9 - Portland - Boston - In flight
Following the coast south towards Boston, pause in Portsmouth, the oldest settlement in New Hampshire. Wander around the historic market square and browse the independent galleries, shops, cafes and restaurants. Our final stop is Salem. A walking tour will reveal the town’s history and teach us more about the 17th-century witch trials that took place here. From Salem, we continue our journey to the airport for your overnight return flight to the UK.
