Due to its location, close to the Equator and high in the Andes Mountains, the city of Quito enjoys a temperate climate year round. Most days can feel like a warm spring day, however it can often rain in the afternoon. It can be
quite cool in the evenings. The Galapagos Islands experience two seasons - dry season and warm season, however the variations in temperature are minimal. In the warm season it can rain in the afternoons making the atmosphere more humid; however, the water is warmer – ideal for those who may wish to snorkel. The Amazon is a tropical rainforest with a very warm climate, high humidity
and concentrated rainfall. The temperature remains fairly constant, with a brief, heavy rainfall during either the late afternoon or early evening, although this will rarely interfere with the planned activities. During the dry or low water period, many trails are open for walks. During the wet or high water season, small tributaries are accessible by boat. It may rain heavily at any time, and fast trips by
boat can be cold, so layers of light clothes and waterproofs are essential.
