Sailing to the Heart of the Baltic

Day 1 Southampton

Titan’s VIP door-to-door travel service collects you from home for your journey to Southampton. Embark Braemar (3.5-star) in preparation for a late afternoon sailing.

Day 2 At sea

As we sail towards Germany, you’re free to do as much (or as little) as you wish. Maybe start your day off with a brisk walk around the deck. Or opt for a yoga class. Spend the afternoon learning a craft, or perfecting your golf swing. After your choice of dinner, you can catch a show or dance into the night.

Day 3 Kiel Canal Transit

Connecting the North and Baltic seas, the Kiel Canal is one of the busiest waterways in the world. Watch from up on deck as we cruise past picturesque villages and under impressive bridges, and cross paths with ships of all shapes and sizes.

Day 4 At sea

Today is free as we continue our cruise. Enjoy a hearty breakfast then take your pick from the variety of activities on board. Show off your general knowledge in an afternoon or evening quiz. Try your hand at bridge, bingo or deck quoits. Or indulge in a traditional afternoon tea to while away your time. Top off the day with a sumptuous dinner or a simple tasty buffet.

Day 5 Riga, Latvia

This morning we’ll dock a short distance from the centre of Riga, Latvia’s charming capital. Discover Gothic churches and pastel-hued houses, and wander through the cobbled lanes of the city’s enchanting, car-free Old Town.

Day 6 Mariehamn, Finland

Spend today exploring the pretty port town of Mariehamn, capital of the Åland Islands. The town is relatively small and easy to get around, with plenty to see and do. Visit the Åland Islands art and cultural history museums, stroll down Södragatan street (lined with historic wooden houses), or follow the signposted ‘Maritime Walk’ from the Western Harbour to the Market Square for an insight into the town’s maritime heritage.

Day 7 Helsinki

From the neo-classical buildings of Senate Square to the beautiful art nouveau railway station, Helsinki is filled with architectural treasures. Discover a few on a stroll around the city centre (perhaps stopping for lunch at a pop-up restaurant or street food stall), or maybe take a boat trip to one of the islands of the Helsinki archipelago. We depart mid-afternoon.

Days 8-9 St Petersburg, Russia (overnight)

We arrive in St Petersburg in the morning of day 8 and stay here until late afternoon on day 9, so there’s plenty of time to see some of the city’s highlights. St Petersburg’s elegant network of canals has earned it the nickname ‘Venice of the North’. Baroque palaces and Italianate mansions line the banks - a boat ride is a great way to see them from a different perspective. For a dose of culture, head for the Winter Palace. Part of the Hermitage museum, you’ll find displays of fine art, antiquities and glittering jewels. Don’t miss the extravagant State Rooms, with their giant chandeliers and ornate gold decoration.

Day 10 Cruising through Stockholm archipelago

Late afternoon, we’ll begin our journey through the picturesque Stockholm archipelago. There are around 30,000 islands and islets in total. Some are topped with colourful wooden houses, while others are untouched, with pristine pine forests and rocky coves.

Day 11 Visby, Sweden

This UNESCO-listed city is like an open-air museum, with well-preserved walls and towers and an old town boasting 15 medieval churches. Look out for Burmeister House, the town’s oldest merchant house, and stop for a drink at one of the cafés lining the cobblestoned Stora Torget square.

Day 12 Copenhagen, Denmark

We’ll arrive in the Danish capital early afternoon today and stay into the evening. The city is packed with attractions. You could ride the hundred-year-old wooden roller-coaster and play old-fashioned carnival games at Tivoli Gardens. Admire Golden Age paintings in the National Gallery and Viking weaponry at the National Museum. Or step inside the beautiful 19th century glasshouse at the Botanical Gardens. If the sun’s shining, perhaps head to the historic Nyhavn quayside for a coffee at one of the al fresco cafés, or tuck into street food from the harbourside market at Bridge Street Kitchen.

Day 13 Kiel Canal Transit

Making our way back towards the UK, we’ll cruise through the Kiel Canal once more.

Day 14 At sea

As we sail home you may want to rest after all your sightseeing. If you’re still full of energy, there‘s lots to fill your time - from quizzes, games and music recitals to walks on deck and dance classes. And of course there’s plenty of opportunity to enjoy all the tasty food options.

Day 15 Southampton

We arrive back in Southampton early this morning, disembarking after breakfast. Upon arrival, your Titan vehicle will be waiting for the journey home.
