Portugal tours and holidays
Portugal might be most famous for its glorious beaches, but there’s a lot more to this country than golden sands. Whether you’re dreaming of the mainland or the volcanic island of Madeira, our Portugal tours can show you captivating cities, historic hill towns, rolling countryside and subtropical landscapes
Stroll along riverside terraces, ancient city walls or lush levadas. Tuck into hearty seafood stews and flaky custard tarts. Admire Lisbon’s cinematic hilltops, Porto’s mazy cobbled streets or Funchal’s flower-filled gardens. Immerse yourself in local history at traditional pousadas. And sip delicious ruby-red ports and fortified wines.
If you’re looking for something a bit different for your holiday to Portugal, take a look at our Douro river cruises. After starting in Porto, sightseeing and wine-sipping, you’ll slowly meander through the UNESCO-protected Douro River Valley, admiring views of terraced vineyards and stopping off to explore historic cities, castles and palaces.

EHIC/GHIC - Following the UK’s exit from the EU, the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) is being replaced by the Global Health Insurance Card (GHIC). UK-issued EHICs are still valid and offer the same cover as GHICs in the EU. Once your EHIC has expired, you’ll be able to replace it with a GHIC and you can apply online. You should beware of unofficial websites that may charge if you apply through them. An EHIC or GHIC is free of charge.
Either card lets you get medically necessary state healthcare in Europe at a reduced cost or sometimes free of charge, however it isn’t a replacement for travel insurance, you should have both before you travel. Some European countries don’t accept either card (including the Channel Islands of Guernsey, Alderney and Sark, Norway, Iceland, and Switzerland). To access up-to-date details for the country you’re visiting, please refer to this information
