UK - Milan - Baveno, Lake Maggiore
Titan’s VIP door-to-door travel service collects you from home for your flight to Milan. On arrival, we’ll transfer to Lake Maggiore and check into our lake-view rooms. The afternoon is at leisure for you to enjoy the town. Lovely Baveno has been welcoming tourists since the 19th century and its elegant past is reflected by the beautiful villas that dot the lake shore.
Today we set off on an excursion to see the baroque architecture and magnificent gardens of the Borromean Islands. On our private boat tour, we’ll spend the day gliding on the glass-like waters of Lake Maggiore to explore Isola Bella and Isola dei Pescatori.
Enjoy a day at leisure to take in all this charming town has to offer. The small harbour has a pretty promenade with lakeside cafés surrounded by flowers and oleander trees. Take a seat and soak up the views of the magnificent Alps in the distance. Or perhaps visit the more bustling neighbouring town of Stresa.
Day 4 - Baveno - Venice
After breakfast, we head towards Venice where we’ll meet and embark our ship, ahead of our sailing this afternoon.
Day 5 - Rijeka, Croatia
The first stop on our voyage, Rijeka is colourful and ornate with a 20th century port. Wander along its streets for unique Austro-Hungarian charm and a healthy dose of local culture.
Away from the port, the city has a green centre. Trsat Castle makes for an interesting stop - it’s thought to lie on the exact spot of an ancient Illyrian and Roman fortress. Meanwhile, the Korzo district is your best bet for pretty shopping streets and the opportunity to try some local specialities.
Day 6 - Zadar - Split (overnight)
The capital of Dalmatia for many centuries, Zadar is a quiet and gracious town. This is where old meets new, which will become apparent as you wander the network of old narrow streets dotted with Roman ruins and Romanesque churches. And then, in the same breath, marvel at the city’s modern architecture and technology.
Hiking enthusiasts might like to escape the city in search of cascading waterfalls and hiking trails at one of the nearby national parks. But before we leave, be sure to sample the local liqueur, maraschino, made from marasca cherries.
Day 7 - Split
We have the whole day ahead of us to make the most of one of the most beautiful towns in Croatia. Always buzzing, this is a great place to see Dalmatian life as it’s really lived. Among the old atmospheric walls and narrow cobblestoned streets, Split has been humming away from thousands of years.
Drift through the web of narrow streets showcasing pre-Romanesque churches and Gothic chapels. Soak up the beauty of the Cathedral of St Duje - the oldest cathedral in the world - and the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Diocletian’s Palace, which dates back to the 4th century. Perhaps wander down to the water’s edge and stroll along the Riva, the spectacular white marble-esque promenade.
Day 8 - Dubrovnik
From the moment you step beyond the stone walls that encircle Dubrovnik, you’ll get a feeling for what makes it so special. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is adorned with charming squares and centuries-old red-roofed buildings.
Walk the fortified walls for a spectacular view of the city - if you’re getting déjà vu, it might be because you’ve spotted some of the scenery in its leading role as King’s Landing on ‘Game of Thrones’.
Day 9 - Hvar
Crowned the ‘Sunniest Place in Europe’, Hvar is the perfect spot for beach bums. But there’s so much more to this island than the sprawling beaches and bright blue waters. Lush olive groves, fruit orchards, fields of lavender and vineyards upon vineyards bless the landscapes around Hvar. In town, historic buildings edge one of the largest squares in the ancient region of Dalmatia - the perfect place for a spot of people watching with a glass of that local wine.
Day 10 - Venice (overnight)
On our penultimate day, we arrive in Venice, one of the world’s most famous cities. Take in the city’s highlights, including the Grand Canal and its magnificent Venetian architecture, and Palazzo Ducale, the home of the Doge.
Amble along the warren of alleyways and bridges crossing canals and you’ll soon find yourself somewhere entirely different, where washing hangs between buildings and locals frequent authentic trattorias. Back in the city centre, St Mark’s Square is the perfect spot to watch dusk fall over the city.
Day 11 Venice - UK
We disembark after breakfast and transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK. Upon arrival, your Titan vehicle will be waiting for the journey home.
