Day 4 - Reykjavik, Iceland
The world’s most northerly capital is a stunning coastal city. Reykjavik combines colourful buildings, creative people, and beautiful natural wonders. Learn about the world’s oldest parliament or its Viking history, or visit art museums that showcase radical Icelandic design.
Reykjavik is in easy reach of the iconic Golden Circle, which includes Thingvellir National Park, Gullfoss Waterfall, and the incredible Geysir hot springs. Nauthólsvík Geothermal Beach is also unmissable. Soak in the hot-tubs and steam baths, naturally heated by the hot geothermal waters.
Day 5 - Ísafjördur - Cruising Hornstrandir
Ísafjördur’s fine natural harbour is set against steep mountains, with a spit that arcs out into the deep Skutulsfjördur. Explore a town centre of preserved timber and tin-clad buildings, or discover the town’s maritime history at Westfjords Heritage Museum.
Alternatively, view beautiful Vigur, the Paradise Island. Just a 30-minute boat trip away, the island is home to thousands of puffins, arctic terns, eider ducks, black guillemots and more. Late tonight, we cruise by Hornstrandir - home to huge numbers of migrating birds every year.
Day 6 - Cruising Eyjafjördur - Akureyri
Wake up to magnificent views of Eyjafjördur, Iceland’s longest fjord. There’ll be plenty of photo opportunities as we cruise down this scenic narrow fjord. We arrive in Akureyri this morning. This northern town is best known for its spectacular landscapes, lush vegetation and diverse wildlife. The waters surrounding the town are teaming with rare, native species such as humpback whales, minke whales, white-beaked dolphins and porpoises.
The Godafoss ‘Waterfall of the Gods’ and Lake Myvatn are accessible on excursions. Or stay in town to visit museums, galleries and exhibitions offering an insight into the diverse culture of Akureyri. The best can be found in ‘Arts Alley’ - the main street that runs directly through the town.
Day 7 - Seydisfjördur
Black Watch weaves through the calm blue waters of Seydisfjördur en route to the picturesque town of the same name. The town is home to a unique collection of wonderfully preserved wooden structures. Head into a valley above the town and you’ll hear the echoes of 25 waterfalls as they thunder down towards the fjord.
Day 8 - 9 - At sea
