Cruising and Brexit: 5 Reasons to Choose a No-fly Cruise
With so much uncertainty still surrounding Brexit and how it might affect travel, we sat down with senior product manager (and Titan cruise expert) Rob Stapley to find out why no-fly cruises with Fred. Olsen are such a great option.
You’ll sail straight from a UK port
As the name suggests, no-fly cruises don’t involve international flights – you set sail from a UK port instead. Although we don’t anticipate a lot of flight disruption in the event of a no-deal Brexit, there are no guarantees at time of writing.
Book a no-fly cruise and you won’t need to bear flight schedules, routings or availability in mind. Cruises sail from a variety of UK ports, including Dover, Newcastle and Liverpool. And because we include our VIP door-to-door travel service on all no-fly cruises, you won’t need to worry about getting to and from the port either!
Your onboard spending will be in pounds
Fluctuating exchange rates between the pound and euro can often be a worry when you’re planning your holiday budget. Luckily, all of your onboard spending on a Fred. Olsen cruise will be in sterling, so you can comfortably plan the majority of your budget.
Many of our no-fly cruises include onboard spend as part of the package, too – it can be used to pay for shore excursions, drinks, spa treatments, shop purchases and more. All you’ll need euros or local currency for is any additional spending when you’re in port.
Your meals are all included in your holiday price
Another benefit of these cruises is that they’re full board – breakfast, lunch and dinner are included every day you’re on the ship. Again, it’s helpful when it comes to working out your overall holiday budget, as you’ll know that your upfront price has paid for all of your food during the trip (aside from anything you might like to buy in port).
You’ll benefit from ABTA protection
All of our holidays – including no-fly cruises – are protected by ABTA. This means that we are responsible for making sure your holiday goes ahead as planned. If it can’t for any reason, we’ll offer an alternative or a full refund. Booking through a company with ABTA backing means you’ll have the peace of mind that we’re there to sort things out should any issues arise.
You’ll be able to contact our travel advisors 7 days a week before you travel, and once your holiday begins, you’ll have our 24/7 helpline should you need any assistance. Many of our Fred. Olsen cruises also include the services of a Titan tour manager, who’ll be on the ship with you – they’re also on hand to help with anything you might need.
You won’t need to worry about visas
If you’re a British national, under a no-deal Brexit you still won’t need a visa for stays in EU countries of up to 90 days within any 180-day period. For cruises calling at St Petersburg, as long as you’re going ashore on one of Fred. Olsen’s shore excursions, your visa will be included as part of your cruise package.
