On Zanzibar, you’ll tour Stone Town’s atmospheric alleys, unwind on white-sand beaches and chat with the CEO of a Fairtrade spice company (a truly fascinating insight into a significant industry for locals); in Madagascar, you’ll breathe in the sweet smell of freshly podded vanilla and look for lemurs in the tree canopy. You’ll see Kerala’s serene backwaters on a traditional coir houseboat and immerse yourself in local culture at a snake boat regatta and Kathakali performance. Oman is up next – you’ll see forts, souqs and desert wadis, and watch the sun dip below the horizon from the deck of a private dhow.

Venice comes last, and what a finale. Sample street food, take a mask-making workshop, shop for exquisite blown-glass ornaments and dine in the opulent surroundings of a Venetian palazzo.
