Coast to coast: top 8 highlights of our grand American tour

With 50 states, thousands of miles wide and innumerable sights and views to take in, the United States of America is so much more than just one holiday. Here at Titan we have been taking people to the USA for over 25 years (in 2014 we have over 40 different holiday options), so we know the best places to take you and all those little gems of knowledge that are part of our trademark style.

Bringing all that knowledge together has allowed us to create a brand new tour for 2014, one which takes some of our customers favourite US destinations and pulls them in to one grand tour. Coast to Coast offers a 30 day tour of some of the USA’s greatest sights covering over 4,000 miles between Los Angeles and New York. Full details can be found on our website, but below is just a selection of what you will get to experience.

1. Los Angeles

The undisputed home of the movies, Los Angeles is one of California's - if not the world's - most iconic cities. With the world-famous Hollywood sign, the walk of fame (with the handprints of cinematic icons throughout the years), the iconic Walt Disney Concert Hall – home to the L.A. Philharmonic Orchestra - and over 800 museums and galleries, the City of Angles is a stunning start to this glamorous tour.

2. Las Vegas

Often referred to as America’s Grown-ups' Playground, Las Vegas is bigger, brighter and bolder than anywhere else on the planet. Rising out of the desert, like an illuminated mirage, the casinos, shows, restaurants and hotels need to be seen to be believed.

3. The Grand Canyon

A wonder of the Natural World, the scale of The Grand Canyon is sure to dwarf even your wildest imagination. The colourful strata visible down the sides of this vast landscape tell of millennia gone by. Carved out of the land by the sheer power of the Colorado River, The Grand Canyon shows the full scale of nature’s awe-inspiring power – for a truly unforgettable experience, why not take in the vistas from above with a flight over the canyon?

4. New Orleans

Jazz, food and vibrant spirit is what has put New Orleans on the map, and it is this spirit we follow during our time Louisiana. More than this though, we also delve into the soul of city, the Deep South and its relationship with the mighty Mississippi River and its beautiful paddle steamers. Taking in the jazz of the city and the grand plantation houses of the area, our time in New Orleans is sure to be a outstanding highlight of our tour.

5. Savannah

Georgia will be on your mind at this stage of our trip, as we take in the sights of Savannah, the state’s colonial capital. It may now have been superseded by Atlanta, but its imperial history and pivotal importance as a port city during the American Civil War has left Savannah with an immensely rich cultural heritage. A Trolley Bus tour around the Historic District is a great way to acquaint yourself with this delightful city.

6. Charleston

One of the United States’ most historic treasures, Charleston is a reminder of a bygone era of plantations, extravagant architecture and a society America. Add in that this stop is home to the oldest public gardens in America as well, and you are sure to discover a side to America that you did not know existed.

7. Washington D.C.

The heartland of US federal politics, Washington D.C. is one of America’s finest cities. Home to sights such at the Capitol and the White House (home to Congress and the President, respectively), memorials to Benjamin Franklin and George Washington, and the incredible collections of the Smithsonian Institute, everyone should get to see Washington at least once in their lives.

8. New York City

America’s largest city, and the final stop on our grand tour from Coast to Coast; New York is one of the most exciting, vibrant and cosmopolitan metropolises on the planet. With a famous landmark around every corner, from Central Park to the Statue of Liberty via the Empire State Building and Times Square, there is no place quite as exciting as the Big Apple to end our tour.

We really believe that we have picked some absolutely stunning destinations for this tour - the post only shows eight of its highlights! - and that it will show you many of this vast country's different faces. Nicola considers herself very lucky to have had the opportunity to visit a number of places around the world and these experiences usually involve searching for as many kinds of wildlife as possible. Recent highlights include penguins in Antarctica, bears and whales in Canada and Alaska and sea otters in California - but there are always more animals to search for.
