Morning in Oxford
A great way to start your day is to pay a visit to the famous Ashmolean Museum of Art and Archaeology. Established in 1683, the Ashmolean is the oldest public museum In Britain and itself is a beautiful example of neoclassical architecture. Inside you will discover fascinating collections of historical artefacts and art from eastern and western civilisations, spanning from the ancient to the modern. Afterwards, enjoy lunch in one of the excellent cafes, pubs or restaurants in the centre of Oxford before making your way to the River Cherwell.
Afternoon in Oxford
A great way to see the attractive Oxfordshire countryside is to hire a traditional punt on the River Cherwell, which can be chauffeured if you prefer to sit back and unwind. Surrounded by romantic scenery of hanging blossom-laden trees and lush green meadows, a trip on the Cherwell is an enchanting experience and you can even take a picnic for the journey. If you wish to go a little further, there are also boat cruises that will take you along the Thames.
Evening in Oxford
Oxford has a wealth of activities to enjoy in the evening. There are excellent restaurants, cafes, pubs and jazz clubs in the centre of Oxford which are perfect for a quiet night relaxing. There is also the Oxford Playhouse if you would prefer an evening of theatrical entertainment. If you are a fan of music, you may also wish to check who is performing at the two main music venues in Oxford located on Crowley Road, the Regal and the O2 Academy.
