The Highlights of Rome and the Beautiful Amalfi Coast
We love...
Visiting Rome’s iconic landmarks and sampling gelato at the same parlour visited by Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck in the timeless classic ‘Roman Holiday’. Taking a private boat tour to idyllic Capri, before enjoying captivating island views from the top of the funicular. Exploring Positano and Amalfi with a local guide, admiring the iconic coastal scenery as we sail between the two.
Experience la dolce vita (the sweet life) of Italy on our Rome and Sorrento tour, where a heady mix of ancient ruins and iconic landmarks meets the serene beauty of a coastal retreat - it's the perfect combination. We'll start our Italian adventure with four days in Rome, a historic city with lively piazzas and architectural wonders around every corner. Then, we’ll spend the next week in and around stunning Sorrento - a resort with jaw-dropping views overlooking the Bay of Naples and mighty Mount Vesuvius. We'll journey through winding streets lined with lemon groves and take to the sparkling waters to explore the fabled towns along the iconic Amalfi Coast.

We'll spend the next few days exploring some of Rome's most iconic landmarks, starting today with a guided tour. We’ll head to the Vatican City to admire St Peter's Basilica from the outside, a masterpiece of Renaissance architecture, and St Peter's Square, a piazza framed by impressive colonnades and stunning fountains. We'll toss a coin into the iconic Trevi Fountain before stopping at Giolitti to taste its delicious ice cream - it's the oldest gelateria in the city and the same one visited by Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck in the timeless classic ‘Roman Holiday’. The tour ends in Piazza Navona, an area popular with both tourists and locals. Spend the rest of the afternoon soaking in the beauty of Rome, admiring the famous Fiumi Fountain designed by sculptor Gian Lorenzo Bernini. If you’re craving more sweet treats, try some cannoli (crispy fried pastry tubes generously filled with sweet ricotta cheese and dusted with powdered sugar). We’ll explore with a local guide, taking in highlights such as the greenery-draped 14th-century monastery, Chiostro di San Francesco. Soak up the sea views from Sorrento Park - with views of Mount Vesuvius in the distance. After all that sightseeing, you might be feeling peckish. Day 7 - Pompeii
We head out to explore Pompeii today. This Roman resort town was buried in AD 79 by a sudden and massive eruption of Mount Vesuvius. Most of the locals weren’t able to escape and many reminders of their day-to-day life have been well preserved under thick layers of ash and lava. Our guided tour will give us a glimpse into the lifestyle of this once thriving town. Many household items are on display to view - as they were hundreds of years ago - providing a fascinating insight into ancient Roman customs, art and trades. Even the walls themselves, with shops signs and graffiti of electoral propaganda, are completely compelling.

Day 8 - Amalfi Coast
Brace yourself for one of the world’s most spectacular and famous drives. Italy's Amalfi Coast is a 50km stretch of stunning coastline that winds its way along the Sorrentine Peninsula from Sorrento to Salerno. Soak up the breathtaking seascapes at every twist and turn - you’ll want to keep your camera at the ready for this. Our first stop is pretty Positano, awash with pastel-painted houses clinging to the cliff edge. From here, we’ll take to the water and speed over to iconic Amalfi by boat, so you’ll have the added bonus of seeing the coastline from the sea. Later, we’ll return to Sorrento by boat.
