Meeting an icon: The Pyramids of Giza
You can’t visit Egypt without seeing the awe-inspiring Pyramids of Giza, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World and among the most iconic and recognisable landmarks on the planet. Marvel at the Great Pyramid, the mighty Sphinx, and the ancient tombs – all of which date back more than 4,500 years.
Explore the West Bank of Luxor
The ancient treasures come thick and fast in this part of Egypt, which is home to titans like the Valley of the Kings, the majestic Temple of Hatshepsut, and the towering Colossi of Memnon. Explore fascinating tombs, admire intricate hieroglyphs, and take in the beauty of the natural surroundings.
Soul-searching in the Temple of Kom Ombo
Unique in its design, the Temple of Kom Ombo was built for not one, but two gods – Horus, Egyptian god of the sky, and Sobek, the crocodile god. As such, it was created with double of everything, including two entrances, two altars and two vast main halls. Highlights include sacred carvings and mummified crocodiles. The temple has a spectacular setting on the Nile riverbank, too.
Admire Aswan High Dam
Aswan’s impressive High Dam is a feat of modern engineering. It was built in the 1960s to control the flow of the River Nile and protect Egypt and its ancient sites from flooding. The creation of the dam also resulted in Lake Nasser, one of the world’s largest artificial lakes, which stands at 11m high and stretches for 3.6km.
An Egyptian wonder: the Temple of Philae
The magical Temple of Philae is dedicated to the goddess Isis and celebrated for its stunning island location. Rescued from flooding and relocated to Agilkia Island, this beautifully preserved temple features intricate carvings, grand courtyards, and a rich mythological past, making it a must-visit.
Time travel in the Nubian Museum
Showcasing ancient artefacts, elaborate statues, and vibrant exhibits, this museum tells the story of Nubia, one of Africa’s oldest and most powerful civilizations. Explore its beautifully designed halls and outdoor gardens for a fascinating journey through Egypt’s lesser-known past.

Cameras at the ready because this side of the Nile is loved for its vibrant markets, fascinating museums, and spectacular sunsets. It’s also where you’ll find the well-known Karnak and Luxor temples.

On this full-day tour we’ll discover the delights of Alexandria, an ancient waterfront city founded by Alexander the Great and once upon a time the official HQ of Queen Cleopatra. Day 4 - Alexandria
A long but rewarding day uncovers Alexandria, Egypt’s historic Mediterranean port city. Founded by Alexander the Great, it later became a centre of power under Cleopatra, whose palace now lies beneath the harbour. Alexandria was home to the legendary Pharos Lighthouse and the Great Library, among the most famous landmarks of the ancient world. Explore the Graeco-Roman Museum and the Modern Bibliotheca Alexandrina.

Day 5 - Cairo - Luxor
A morning flight south leads to Luxor, gateway to Upper Egypt and the start of the Nile cruise. On arrival explore the East Bank with visits to Luxor Temple, a ceremonial centre of the New Kingdom, and the vast Karnak Temple complex, covering more than 100 hectares. Walk along the Avenue of Sphinxes and step into the Hypostyle Hall, where 134 massive columns rise in precise geometric rows, each covered in detailed hieroglyphs.
