Introducing our music inspired holidays
There is no language barrier when it comes to music, and discovering a new country through its musical heritage is one of the most rewarding and enjoyable of travel experiences. Following in the footsteps of your musical heroes, exploring the land, the scenery, the culture and traditions that inspired them, and listening to their music in the places where it was written and first performed, you will learn so much and return from your holiday with a renewed appreciation for the singers, performers and composers you love.
Find out moreFor anyone with a passion for jazz, blues, country or rock ‘n’ roll, the USA’s Deep South really is the dream destination, the land where all of these now internationally popular music styles emerged during the last century. Choose from two wonderful tours through Southern musical history, Southern Sights and Sounds and Southern Musical Medley, which will also introduce you to the wider attractions of the exciting cities and evocative scenery of the Deep South. On Southern Sights and Sounds you’ll spend time in those legendary centres of music-making, Nashville, home of the Grand Ole Opry and Memphis, birthplace of ‘Father of the Blues’ W C Handy. You’ll also be able to visit Graceland, Elvis Presley’s grand mansion, as well as his rather more modest childhood home in Tupelo. In New Orleans, the birthplace of jazz, you’ll enjoy a cruise on a Mississippi paddle-steamer, with a live band on board, and have a free day to explore the atmospheric French Quarter. You’ll learn more about the local culture and history, too, visiting a whiskey distillery in Tennessee, riding a train in Chattanooga, and stopping at Lafayette, a centre of Cajun culture. On Southern Musical Medley, you’ll have a chance to see the historic FAME studios in Muscle Shoals, Alabama – ‘the hit-recording capital of the world’ – and Belle Meade, ‘the Queen of the Tennessee Plantations,’ recalling the ambience of Gone With The Wind.
If classical music is more to your taste, Titan offers some delightful European tours and river cruises. Step aboard the MS Amadeus for our Classical Music on the Rhine cruise, sailing from Basel to Amsterdam in the company of members of the Saxon Organ Academy, who will perform daily concerts on board. You’ll discover some of the lovely towns along the Rhine, including Bonn, where you’ll visit Beethoven’s house and enjoy a piano recital, and historic Rüdesheim. Alternatively, you can experience the charm of Salzburg, birthplace of Mozart and setting for one of the most popular musical films of all time, The Sound of Music, on Tyrolean Magic, as well as on our Enchanting Danube cruise, where you will sail up the ‘Blue Danube’ to Vienna, the city where Strauss, Haydn, Mozart, Bruckner, Brahms, Schubert and many more composers once lived and worked. Let music transport you to a world of discovery!
