MS Serenade 1

MS Serenade 1 is one of the ships that we charter for exclusive Titan river cruises. By chartering these ships just for our customers, we’re able to tailor every aspect – food, excursions, entertainment – to ensure you have a seamless holiday experience from start to finish. Each sailing is accompanied by a Titan tour manager and cruise director. They’re on hand 24/7 to make sure everything runs smoothly and to answer any questions you might have.

The ship starts the season in April with spring sailings on the Dutch Waterways, before spending summer and autumn on the Rhine and Moselle. Cabins are especially spacious by river cruise standards (en-suite bathrooms even come with separate showers and bathtubs), and with a lounge/bar, mini-gym, sauna and large sun deck, there’s plenty of room to relax.

What’s the food like on MS Serenade 1?

What’s the food like on MS Serenade 1?

The food we serve on board is all freshly prepared using local, seasonal produce. Breakfast is a buffet set-up, while lunch and dinner are both table service, with free-flowing wine, beer and soft drinks included.

Breakfast

In the mornings, you might like to start with a hot drink in your cabin – each one has tea and coffee-making facilities. Breakfast is served between 7-9am (with an ‘early riser’ option in the bar from 6:30am). You can help yourself to pastries, fresh fruit, yoghurt, cheeses and cold cuts, and there’s a hot food station if you fancy a full English or eggs cooked to order by the chef.

Lunch

There are a few options when lunchtime comes around. In the restaurant, there’s a sit-down meal. After helping yourself to a salad and starter selection, waiters will bring you three more delicious courses (soup, main and dessert) and will keep your glass topped up with your choice of house wine, beer or soft drinks while you’re eating.

For something lighter, a buffet of sandwiches, soup and pasta dishes will be available in the bar for an hour or so. And if you’re out on a full-day excursion, the chef will prepare a packed lunch for you (usually sandwiches, a piece of fruit and a cold drink).

Dinner

At dinner, you’ll start with an appetiser and soup of the day, before choosing one of three main dishes (one of which will be a vegetarian option). A selection of puddings and cheeses rounds things off. Again, house wine, beer and soft drinks are complimentary. If you’re peckish later on, you’ll find canapés in the lounge from around 10pm.

Dining is always free seating rather than fixed, so you don’t need to sit at the same table each night (unless you want to, that is).

Gala dinners

Most cruises include one or two gala dinners. These are six-course affairs where our chefs go all out – dishes might include duo of fish with lobster butter sauce or succulent roast beef with black peppercorn jus.

Tea & coffee

As well as having kettles in each cabin, MS Serenade 1 offers 24-hour hot drink stations where you help yourself to a cappuccino, latte, hot chocolate and more. You’ll also find a selection of tea bags and complimentary biscuits.

Is there evening entertainment?

Evening entertainment takes place in the panorama lounge. It’s fairly low-key – expect live music and quizzes, rather than the all-singing, all-dancing shows you might find on ocean cruise ships. While bar drinks are at an extra cost, you can opt to upgrade to an all-inclusive drinks package for the duration of your cruise.
If you’d rather relax in your cabin, we show a different film each night on the movie channel (and you’re welcome to take a drink from the bar back with you).

Is there a dress code on board?

There’s no strict dress code for dining. Smart casual is the norm, although most people like to don a suit or cocktail dress for the gala dinner on the last night.

What is there to do on board and on shore?

We offer a fantastic range of excursions to help you get the most out of each destination. We’ll include a selection in the price of your holiday, and can arrange optional excursions in some ports of call. You can book these either before you travel or while you’re on board.
There is an expansive sun deck with loungers and chairs positioned for the best views. Step inside and you’ll find a comfortable lounge, plus a sauna and whirlpool to indulge in some me time.
Quizzes are available each day and we’ll often arrange informal games during longer sails. Some cruises will have themed activities too.
