8 nights in hotels (accommodation as specified or similar)
Titan’s VIP door-to-door travel service collects you from home for your flight to Málaga. On arrival, our coach transfers us to Granada, situated in the fertile valley at the foot of the Sierra Nevada, where we will spend the next two nights at the Sercotel Gran Hotel Luna de Granada (4T).
Granada is an historic and distinctive city with splendid Renaissance, Baroque and Neo-Classical monuments, which have inspired travellers over the years. Today we take a tour of the spectacular Alhambra Palace, known as the ‘Red Castle’ as a result of the russet-coloured stone used in its construction. The only medieval Arab palace still in existence, it is recognised as one of the Wonders of the World. We also visit the exquisite Generalife Gardens, home of the summer palace.
Please note there is a considerable amount of walking involved today.
Granada - Ubeda - Baeza
Ubeda is our first stop today where we visit the dazzling Plaza Vazquez de Molina and Capilla del Salvador. We continue to the fascinating town of Baeza, an ancient stronghold of the Moors. We enjoy our guided tour, taking in the tourist train and Baeza Cathedral. Tonight we stay at the TRH Ciudad de Baeza Hotel (4T).
Baeza - Cordoba
This morning we depart Baeza and our first stop is at an olive oil museum to discover the production process of this vital ingredient in Spanish cuisine. We continue to Cordoba, birthplace of the philosophers Seneca and Maimonides, and one of Europe’s most important cities in the 11th century, where Muslims, Christians and Jews lived in harmony. Its distinctive landmark, the Mezquita, is one of the largest mosque-cathedrals in the world and remains one of the great wonders and curiosities of Spain. Some of the most beautiful churches and squares can be found in the oldest part of the city, where the styles of Gothic and Mudejar come together. The origins of Cordoba are almost lost in antiquity, and today we give you a guided tour of this historic city including a visit to the Mezquita. Our hotel is the NH Córdoba Guadalquivir (4T).
Cordoba - Seville
We depart Cordoba for the capital of Andalucia, Seville, where our guided tour includes the Alcazar, a former Arabic palace and fortress. We continue to the Cathedral, the third largest in the world and burial place of Columbus, which shares the same site as the Great Mosque. We also see the old Jewish quarter; Maria Luisa Park; and Plaza de Espana. We’ll stay at the Hotel Congressos Sevilla (4T).
Today you are at leisure to relax and enjoy the hotel and its facilities. Alternatively, you may take this opportunity to explore Seville at your own pace.
Seville - Jerez
We head to Jerez, whose wealth has been derived from its locally-produced sherry; and today we will visit a bodega for a tasting. The town is equally famous for its equestrian activities and breeds fine examples of Arabian and Andalucian horses. It is also the birthplace of many flamenco singers, and has charming small squares such as the Plaza de la Asuncion. Our base for the next two nights is the Hotel Sherry Park (4T) or Hotel Barcello Montecastillos (4T).
Today you are free to make your own explorations of Jerez - or relax in the comfort of your hotel and reflect back on the spectacular sights that have been encountered on your trip.
Day 9 Jerez - Malaga - UK
Today we depart for the airport and your return flight to the UK. Upon arrival, your Titan vehicle will be waiting for the journey home.
