We Love

Relaxing on the deck of your beautifully converted barge ship, glass of wine in hand, watching the French countryside glide past.

The longest river in France, the Loire is lined with traditional farms, perfectly preserved dwellings built centuries ago, and valleys of vines from which world-renowned wines are created. This Loire river cruise takes you right into France’s rural heartland. You’ll discover medieval treasures in riverside towns and stroll through sleepy streets in quiet villages. You’ll taste fresh goat’s cheese and Sancerre wine on a farm deep in the countryside. There will also be plenty of time to enjoy the scenery as we glide through unspoilt landscapes.

    Day 1 - UK - Paris - Nevers

Titan’s VIP door-to-door travel service collects you from home for your flight to Paris. On arrival, we transfer to the port in Nevers to embark our ship, with time to settle in before a welcome cocktail party and dinner. At nightfall, we take a romantic lantern tour of Nevers.

    • Tour Nevers by night (evening)

    MS Déborah (4-star)

  • Léré - Ménétréol-sous-Sancerre

    Day 2 - Nevers - Marseilles-lès-Aubigny

In 1858, Bernadette Soubirous saw 18 separate apparitions of the Virgin Mary. She was proclaimed a saint on her death and lies entombed in Espace Bernadette Soubirous. We visit the sanctuary, then tour the city of Nevers (including the pottery district) and taste some local products.

We return to our vessel to cruise through the afternoon to Marseilles-lès-Aubigny. This journey offers the opportunity to cycle along a portion of the EuroVélo 6, the cycle route from the Atlantic Ocean to the Black Sea.

    • Visit to Nevers with tasting of local products (morning)

    MS Déborah (4-star)

  • Ménétréol-sous-Sancerre - Herry

    Day 3 - Marseilles-lès-Aubigny - Herry

Today a coach takes us to Fontmorigny Abbey, an influential monument to more than eight centuries of French religious heritage.

We’ll then continue to Apremont-sur-Allier, one of the most beautiful medieval villages in France. Enjoy views of the castle that overlooks it and take a stroll along one of France’s longest rivers - the Allier is relatively unknown and possibly more beautiful for it. Later, we’ll sail towards Herry.

    • Visit Fontmorigny Abbey & Apremont-sur-Allier (morning)

    MS Déborah (4-star)

  • Herry - Marseilles-lès-Aubigny

    Day 4 - Herry - Ménétréol-sous-Sancerre

We start today with a tour of La Charité-sur-Loire, a book town with fine Romanesque architecture, and the only town successfully defended against Joan of Arc during the Hundred Years’ War. Its magnificent, UNESCO-protected priory church was built in 1059 and soon became a major stop on the pilgrim road to Santiago de Compostela.

We’ll enjoy a tasting of handmade caramel and chocolate sweets, before sailing onwards. Enjoy the scenery as we cruise towards Ménétréol-sous-Sancerre. Maybe take the opportunity to borrow one of the bikes on board to follow the canal path.

    • Tour of La Charite-sur-Loire with caramel and chocolate sweets tasting (morning)

    MS Déborah (4-star)

  • Marseilles-lès-Aubigny - Nevers

    Day 5 - Ménétréol-sous-Sancerre - Léré

This morning we travel by coach to Pouilly-sur-Loire, where we visit the vineyards and wine cellar of the Tour du Pouilly-Fumé. After tasting the local wine, enjoy the scenery as we cruise to Léré.

    Day 6 - Léré - Briare

Just a few miles away, in the historic Berry region, Sancerre overlooks the gorgeous Loire Valley. We discover this beautiful medieval city, taking in the old wine-making neighbourhoods, bakeries and art galleries. We’ll also see the Fief Tower, the only remaining tower of the 14th-century medieval castle.

Afterwards, we visit a family-run goat farm and taste its trademark cheeses and the local Sancerre wine. We'll then spend the afternoon cruising to Briare and through the Briare Aqueduct, whose 14 masonry supports were built by the Eiffel Company. Until recently, it was the longest navigable aqueduct in the world.

    • Excursion to Sancerre and cheese/wine tasting at a goat farm (morning)

    MS Déborah (4-star)
