Stepping off the plane into Greece feels almost like stepping into a movie set - the sea really is crystal blue, historic buildings bring unique charm and the lifestyle is pretty laidback. Cities, islands, ancient sites and beaches all work together to awaken the mind and body. Life really doesn’t get much better than this, so we’ve put together some attractions and experiences that will leave you feeling both spiritually and physically rejuvenated.

Awe-inspiring history in Athens

The city of Athens is packed with historical sites, and the jewels in this Greek crown are the Parthenon and the Acropolis. Visiting them is one of the most popular things to do in Greece. These landmarks have withstood the test of time, from natural disasters to human conflict. You’ll be filled with appreciation and awe when you stand before these ancient monuments and realise just how far Greece - and the world, for that matter - has come. Their presence instils a sense of calm and wellbeing as they overlook Athens, gleaming in the daytime sun.

Walking the beaches of Santorini

The island of Santorini is laden with volcanic history and beaches that will fill you with joy. Kamari Beach, which is the largest in Santorini, features black sands and pebbly terrain, and is just the ticket for an easy-going stroll. Soak in the fresh air and the sound of the ocean - you’ll soon feel the cares of your daily routine slipping away.

The more remote Red Beach was named for its reddish sand and cliffs that contrast beautifully with the glistening blue waters. It’s a little bit of a hike to this photogenic beach, but all good things are worth striving for.

Mythical Minotaur in Knossos

Situated just five kilometres outside Crete’s capital is Knossos - a popular site for excavations and a place to come to enrich your knowledge. Knossos was the capital of Minoan Crete and it provided the setting for the myth of the Minotaur. Legend has it that King Minos of Knossos kept a bull gifted to him, instead of sacrificing it to Poseidon as was intended. The punishment was seeing his wife fall in love with the bull, and the end result was the creation of the Minotaur - a fearsome looking creature of half man, half bull. You’ll feel worldlier after visiting sites like the Palace of Knossos.

Following the Corfu Trail

The island of Corfu is a place of serenity where you can soak up the beauty of nature by walking the Corfu Trail. It starts a little south of Kavos and will transport intrepid hikers into olive groves, across sand dunes, through valleys, down gorges, up cliffs and onto some of the highest peaks on the island. If the greenery and the fresh air don’t rejuvenate your spirit and sense of wellbeing, nothing will. It’s one of Greece’s most beautiful offerings with astounding views.

Olympic Games in Olympia

Olympia is an inspiring location, famed as a place of worship to Zeus, who was king of the Olympian gods. The first Olympic Games were held here back in 776 BC. Legend and sporting glory infuse the air as you explore. This is a site to visit and simply take everything in. You wouldn’t want to leave Greece without seeing it.
