Stunning landscapes
In Switzerland there is no escaping the awe-inspiring scenery. Not only does it have the most mountain peaks over 4000m in Europe, but Switzerland is also home to gushing waterfalls, lush green vineyards, sheer valleys and rippling lakes. It’s the Swiss Alps, though, that are the real stars. From the Bernese Oberland and the Jungfrau Region to the magnificent Matterhorn - the most photographed mountain on the planet - it will feel like we’re on top of the world.
Serene lakes
Breathe in fresh mountain air and explore some of Switzerland’s idyllic lakes. We’ll take a paddle steamer across the turquoise glacial waters of Lake Brienz and be captivated by the fairytale town of Interlaken. We’ll feel the gentle breezes of Lake Thun and enjoy uninterrupted panoramas of peaks Jungfrau, Eiger and Mönch. From the colourful shores and Italian flair of Lake Maggiore to the glistening blues and green hillsides of Lake Lucerne, we’ll never tire of Switzerland’s glorious lakeside scenery.
Amazing railway journeys
One of the best ways to see Switzerland is by train. Sit back and gently trundle along some of Europe’s most remarkable railway routes. Peer out of the window and be left speechless by the sheer scale of this beautiful mountainous region. We have several thrilling railway journeys including a trip to Zermatt at the foot of the Matterhorn, where we can enjoy lunch overlooking the rocky magnificence of the Gornier Glacier. The Bernina Express, meanwhile, takes passengers on a sheer climb through twists and turns, alongside shimmering lakes to the top of the Bernina Pass, where the Alpine vistas are mesmerising. As are the ones you’ll be greeted with on the famous Glacier Express train, that takes you into the heart of Switzerland
Christmas delights
Wrap up warm and delight in the festivities on a short break to Switzerland. Christmas never feels quite the same when there isn’t a cold bite in the air and a flurry of snowflakes. We’ll wander the medieval streets of pretty Lucerne
. We’ll take a horse drawn sleigh through a pretty Swiss village and feast on cheese and chocolate. And celebrate Christmas day by exploring the snow-covered slopes of Mount Rigi, the Queen of Mountains and taking lunch at the summit, as well as sail across Lake Lucerne before sitting down to a celebration evening meal.
