Discover the stunning diversity of Ecuador and the Galapagos

Compact in size, Ecuador certainly holds its own to its South American neighbours. From the snow-capped peaks of the magnificent Andes, tropical Amazonian rainforests, stretches of white sandy beaches and pretty colonial centres, the country is packed full of wonder. Add to the mix, the stunning wildlife in Ecuador’s volcanic archipelago the Galapogos, visitors are in for a treat. We chat to local Titan Tour Manager, Carlos Recalde, and discover why he loves Ecuador and the Galapagos, his top tips before visiting and why he thinks you should make it your next destination.

What makes you proud to live in Ecuador?

There are several things that make me happy to live here: nature, landscapes, the magic of the country, but over all these I thing I am proud of the Ecuadorians and their perseverance. We always try to find a new and better future every day. No matter how many problems we have, we will always be smiling.

What is Ecuador best know for?

Definitely  biodiversity. Ecuador is one of the most biodiverse countries in the world and we have many different types of wildlife such as birds, mammals, insects, amphibians and more. No matter where you go you will find something that will take your breath away.

How do travellers feel about Ecuador after doing this escorted tour?

Surprise. Ecuador is still not very well-known and at the end of the tour all our customers are impressed by what they’ve seen. It is amazing when they say goodbye at the airport and tell me they want to return.

What is the climate like?

Be prepared to enjoy four seasons in one day! Even though we have a spring weather all year long, no matter what time of the year, you can have sunny and rainy days, all in one go. Temperature average depends on many the season and altitude. It could be 19°C in Quito but 29°C in Guayaquil. Just make sure you know exactly where we will be visiting - the climate in the mountains is quite different to the rainforest and the coast. But if you forge to pack anything, we will have it here.

What are the main items travellers should pack?

As I mentioned before, you need to come ready for four seasons. We always recommend customers dress in layers and bring a good jacket. Also a good pair of trekking shoes and plenty sun protection.

What can visitors expect when they arrive in Ecuador?

Be ready to be amazed by all the country has to offer - including new experience and new cultures. Ecuador hosts more than 200 indigenous groups ad all with different cultural differences that are just fascinating.

Are there any cultural etiquette tips that you can give to first-time travellers?

Ecuador is a friendly country and accepting of all differences. As part of a mix, we understand that every person that comes here brings a special cultural aspect that will make us understand more the world we live. One recommendation is that if you want to take photos of indigenous people, then be part of the picture! They would much prefer it if you got involved too!

What are the main highlights of Ecuador?

That’s a tricky question! Every centimeter of my country is a highlight within itself and has a unique quality. The breadth of the biodiversity displays four totally different ecosystems that includes cloud forest, mountain ranges and the Galapagos, which are magical parts of my country and the reason why it is so exciting travel around it. You have to come and see what I am talking about…

It really gives travellers the chance to experience and visit different areas within the country. This tour let me go inside every aspect of Ecuador and gives me the chance to speak about several aspects including the culture, wildlife, traditions, and history, It really gives the customers a chance to delve into the true wonders of Ecuador.
