Belgian Chocolates and Dutch Bulbfields
8 days from £1,099 per person
Sample delicious handmade chocolates and breathe in the scent of spring flowers on this week-long voyage. After a day in the pretty French port of Honfleur, we’ll sail down the Western Scheldt River to Antwerp, where you’ll have time to discover its diamond district, chocolate shops and 16th century town hall. Moving into the Netherlands, you can admire Rotterdam’s innovative architecture and Amsterdam’s Golden Age canal ring, or take a trip to the famous tulip fields at Keukenhof Gardens.
Day 1 - Southampton
Titan’s VIP door-to-door travel service collects you from home for your journey to Southampton. Embark Braemar (3T+) in preparation for a late afternoon sailing.
Day 2 - Honfleur, France
Our first stop is the pretty Normandy port of Honfleur. The colourful old harbour is its star attraction, with centuries-old houses fronted with slate and timber. Stroll along the sloping, cobbled streets and you’ll start to see why Claude Monet found inspiration here. The timber-built Church of St Catherine is another highlight, dating back to the 15th century.
Days 3-4 - Antwerp, Belgium (overnight)
We’ll arrive in Antwerp late afternoon on day 3, staying overnight and setting sail late afternoon on day 4. Amble through its cobbled streets, admiring Renaissance architecture and grand, gabled houses; peek inside the city’s Gothic cathedral; and stop to sample rich Belgian truffles at a traditional chocolatier. If you’re looking for a souvenir to remember, perhaps make a beeline for Antwerp’s famous ‘diamond district’ - more than 80% of the world’s rough diamonds pass through the district at some point.
Day 5 - Rotterdam, Netherlands
With its 17th century houses, maritime history, cutting-edge exhibitions and futuristic architecture, Rotterdam offers up a fantastic mix of old and new. Don’t miss the innovative Cube Houses, tilted at 45 degrees, or the historic Delfshaven neighbourhood, with its canal-side boutiques and cafés.
Day 6 - Amsterdam
Enjoy a whole day in glorious Amsterdam, with its UNESCO-protected canal district and wonky merchants’ houses. Perhaps explore the Rijksmuseum, filled with Golden Age art, Delft pottery, model merchant ships and beautifully detailed dolls’ houses. Alternatively, venture to the famous Keukenhof Gardens. Our spring voyage is specially timed to make the most of these lovely gardens, which erupt in a rainbow of colours as millions of tulips, daffodils and hyacinths burst into bloom.
Day 7 - At sea
As we sail home you may want to rest after all your sightseeing. If you’re still full of energy, there‘s lots to fill your time - from quizzes, games and music recitals to walks on deck and dance classes. And of course there’s plenty of opportunity to enjoy all the tasty food options.
Day 8 Southampton
We arrive back in Southampton early this morning, disembarking after breakfast. Upon arrival, your Titan vehicle will be waiting for the journey home.
