Day 3 - 4 - At sea
Relax as we make our way around Cuba towards Colombia.
Day 5 - 6 - Cartagena, Colombia (overnight)
After a leisurely morning, we arrive in the historic city of Cartagena. This UNESCO-listed walled city is full of legend and colonial grandeur. Take your time to visit the Castle of San Felipe de Barajas, the Palace of the Inquisition, and the Clock Tower; head to the colonial dungeons, now used by local artisans to display their crafts; or explore the colourful squares of Los Coches and Centenario. It is said that the devil tried to topple the tower of the church on Plaza Santo Domingo, and it has stood at an angle ever since. Alternatively, visit the beaches of Islas del Rosario National Park. Our ship departs Cartagena around noon on day 6.
Day 7 - Panama Canal, Panama - Fuerte Amador (Panama City) (overnight)
The Panama Canal is considered one of mankind’s great achievements. Over 80,000 people worked to connect the Atlantic and Pacific oceans, with a series of locks that lift and lower vast ships approximately 50 metres. We spend today sailing the length of this waterway. With national parks on both sides, you may catch a glimpse or hear the call of wildlife. We dock in Fuerte Amador, a small island resort marking the end of the Panama Canal, just a short drive from Panama City. Ship to shore tender service.
Day 8 - Fuerte Amador (Panama City)
Spend this morning discovering Panama City. It was founded by Spanish conquistadors in 1519, and has developed with a unique blend of Spanish, African, and Native American influences. A tour of the city will encompass towering skyscrapers, the weathered Catedral Metropolitana, one of the largest churches in Central America; and the impressive ruins of Panamá Viejo, the oldest European settlement on the Pacific coast of the Americas, including the moated Royal Houses ringed by wooden ramparts. Alternatively, the rainforest at Parque Natural Metropolitano is just minutes from here. This conservation park is home to many birds, Tití monkeys, anteaters, sloths and iguanas. Our cruise continues this afternoon. Ship to shore tender service.
Day 9 - 10 - At sea
Day 11 - Salaverry (Trujillo), Peru
Make your way from the small port town of Salaverry to Trujillo, known as the ‘City of Eternal Spring’. The first important city to proclaim independence from Spain has an incredible legacy that far pre-dates the Spanish conquistadors. Explore the ruins of Peru’s pre-Incan empire capital city, Chan Chan, and visit the museum to put this impressive UNESCO World Heritage Site into context. The Chimú civilisation were ahead of their time in engineering, finding ways to thrive despite having no fresh water source; and at its heyday, about 600 years ago, the city was incredibly wealthy. The Temple of the Moon and the Temple of the Sun are also worth visiting to learn about the Moche people’s brutal practise of human sacrifice, through some of the best-preserved ancient murals in Peru. This civilisation is highly regarded for pioneering skills in painting, pottery and metalwork. Our cruise continues this afternoon.
Day 12 - Lima (overnight)
We dock in Lima early this morning, allowing a full day to discover the old City of Kings. Lima holds nearly a quarter of Peru’s population. This bustling capital is rich with museums that shed light on Peru’s storied past. The National Museum of Archaeology, Anthropology, and History of Peru hold over 100,000 artefacts spanning the country’s entire recorded history, and the city centre has a treasure trove of monuments, brightly coloured colonial buildings, and ornate churches including the stunning Roman Catholic Basilica Cathedral.
Day 13 Lima - In flight
After breakfast we disembark and travel to Lima Airport for a scheduled LATAM Airlines flight to London via Sao Paulo.
Day 14 London
Arrival at London Heathrow Airport where you will be met and guided to your Titan vehicle, for the journey home.
