Enchanting York Christmas
Day 1 York
Titan’s VIP door-to-door travel service collects you from home, for your journey to York. We aim for you to arrive at the hotel between 4pm and 5pm, with time to settle in before a welcome drink, dinner and light entertainment. Our included evening meals are normally taken together as a group in a function room.
Day 2 Christmas Eve - Thirsk
Thirsk has all the charm of an old Yorkshire market town, with cobbled squares and independent shops that barely register the modern world. It was the base for one of our most famous vets - James Wight OBE. You might know him better as James Herriot. After many years of practice, he started writing about his experiences under this pseudonym and we’ll visit The World of James Herriot. The museum provides an insight into 1940s life as a vet, as transcribed in the books and TV series All Creatures Great and Small. Should you wish to attend a local church service after dinner this evening, hot drinks will be served on your return.
Day 3 Christmas Day - York
Merry Christmas! Relax in the festive surroundings of your hotel, then Buck’s Fizz will be served before we sit down to a traditional Christmas lunch. This afternoon provides an opportunity to sit back and watch the Queen’s Speech, or perhaps stroll along York’s historic walls.
Day 4 Boxing Day - York Minster
Today starts at your leisure. Perhaps take a walk within the city walls - the Shambles and Castle Museum (subject to opening hours) are within a few minutes of the hotel. This afternoon, we set out for our tour of York Minster. Our guide will part with details of the world-famous stained glass, historic art, hidden treasures and stunning architecture. Built over 252 years from AD 1220, it’s somewhat different to the original wooden church from AD 627, built for the baptism of King Edwin of Northumberland. Later, we head to York Theatre Royal. This esteemed theatre has been entertaining audiences for over 270 years, and hopefully today we’ll see the UK’s longest-running Dame, Berwick Kaler, return to the stage for his annual pantomime performance.
Day 5 York
You’ll be collected at 10am by your Titan vehicle, for the journey home.
