Celebrate Christmas in the heart of England, staying in the centre of Derbyshire’s premier and thriving city, renowned for its leadership in the country’s bid for industrialisation. Originating as a Roman town, Derby is known for the country’s first factories and spinning mills, railway engineering and more recently Rolls Royce, and the buildings that were created from its prosperity have been carefully preserved. Experience some of the county’s achievements on a steam train ride through Derbyshire’s beautiful countryside, and explore the area further on a visit to the rolling hills of the Peak District.

Titan’s VIP door-to-door travel service collects you from home, for your journey to Derby and the Holiday Inn Derby Riverlights (4T). We aim for you to arrive at the hotel between 4pm and 5pm. Day 2 Christmas Eve - Peak Rail Preserved Railway
After breakfast we depart for Rowsley South Station and an included trip on the Peak Rail steam train. The Midland Railway route once linked Derby and Manchester through Derbyshire’s limestone hills and across magnificent viaducts and has been described as Britain’s most scenic line. We return to our hotel for afternoon tea and coffee with festive treats and an afternoon at leisure. Perhaps take a stroll into Derby’s city centre. Its excellent shopping facilities, cafés and restaurants blend with a heritage that reaches back to prehistoric times - with numerous Bronze Age burial sites and stone circles in the area. In the evening, settle down to a Christmas Eve dinner followed by live entertainment. Details of a Midnight Mass church service will be available for those who wish to attend, with hot chocolate, tea and coffee available on your return.
Day 3 Christmas Day - Derby
Christmas Day morning is yours to celebrate as you wish. After breakfast, maybe take a stroll around the local area before gathering for a glass of Buck’s Fizz or sparkling wine and a traditional Christmas lunch. You are then invited to take afternoon tea and Christmas cake while watching the Queen’s Speech in the lounge. The rest of the afternoon is at leisure, perhaps to participate in one of a selection of board games. A hot and cold buffet is served this evening, followed by entertainment.
Day 4 Boxing Day - The Peak District - Bakewell
After breakfast, an included excursion takes you on a panoramic tour of the Peak District, the first national park in England, with breathtaking views over boundless natural beauty. Enjoy free time exploring Bakewell, the ancient capital of the Peak. With the River Wye meandering through the centre of this charming old market town, it is a lovely place to explore as well as being the birthplace of the Bakewell Pudding and an interesting destination for historians. People resided here as far back as the Iron Age and two of the spring wells which drew settlers here still exist - Bath-well in Bath Street and Holywell (or Pete well) in the recreation ground. We return to the hotel for afternoon tea and festive treats. Family favourite films will be shown throughout the day in the lounge. After dinner there will be another evening of live entertainment with a gala dance.
Day 5 Derby
