This morning we have arranged an included city tour of Miami, and you can enjoy some free time for lunch before being transferred to embark Norwegian Star (3T+) in readiness for a late afternoon sailing.
Days 3-4 - At sea
We spend two days at sea, providing you with the perfect opportunity to familiarise yourself with the superb facilities on board. With a wide choice of international restaurants available, you are free to dine where, when and with whom you wish. The choices are endless for you to sample as many different cuisines as you like.
Day 5 - Cartagena, Colombia
Discover the Old Town of this Spanish colonial port, awash with beautiful plazas, old mansions with ornate balconies, shady streets and atmospheric churches. With a fascinating naval history (Sir Francis Drake successfully invaded in 1586), you may choose to make a visit to the Naval Museum or perhaps explore the historic centre with its wealth of grand colonial buildings, most notably the Inquisition Palace.
Day 6 - Daylight Panama Canal Transit
Take your place on deck with your camera at the ready as we embark on one of the greatest cruising experiences. ‘The Big Ditch’, as it is fondly referred to, flows from the Atlantic to the Pacific through a series of remarkable locks; and one can only marvel at this incredible feat of engineering.
Day 7 - At sea
Soak up the sun on deck, watch one of the latest film releases or perhaps visit the very well-stocked library, before deciding which one of the many restaurants you would like to dine in this evening.
Day 8 - Puntarenas, Costa Rica
We spend a full day in Puntarenas, Central Pacific’s largest city and gateway to a multitude of unique forest habitats. Costa Rica prides itself on eco-friendly activities and attractions and a popular optional excursion is the ‘jungle crocodile safari’ on catamaran-style boats with expert guides along the Guacalilo Estuary, home to one of the world’s largest crocodile populations and over 50 different bird species, including the very rare scarlet macaw.
Day 9 - Corinto, Nicaragua
The small, tropical paradise of Corinto, with lovely, white sand beaches and clear, cerulean water was founded in the 1858. Its centre has a number of family-run restaurants and shops, within which you can while away your time.
Day 10 - Puerto Quetzal, Guatemala
Guatemala is very diverse in nature, with small desert areas, great coffee plantations and sugar cane fields, lakes and Tajumulco Volcano, the highest point in Central America. This area is rich in history with ancient Mayan cities and ruins to explore. Venture inland and you’ll find the 400 year old city of Antigua with beautiful colourful architecture and ancient ruins along with great scenery and gardens.
Day 11 - At sea
Time to relax, go to the spa, have a massage, soak in the hot tub. Or you can just simply sit back in a deck chair with a good book.
Day 12 - Acapulco, Mexico
Known for its luxury retreats, Acapulco is ranked a world-class resort. The scenic point of Las Brisas is ideal for a view of Acapulco Bay and you may catch a glimpse of the daredevils plunging into the sea, from the cliffs of La Quebrada. The resort’s endless stretch of sand is also a great place to spend your day.
Day 13 - At sea
An indulgent day at sea.
Day 14 - Cabo San Lucas, Mexico
Cabo has a natural beauty which is simply mesmerising. Once a sleepy fishing village, Cabo has since been transformed into a tourist Mecca, with great beaches. The waters here are among the biologically richest in the world, with marine species including whales (humpbacks, greys and blues) that winter offshore from January to March when you can board 15-person Zodiac boats to get close-up views of these magnificent mammals.
Day 15 - At sea
A chance to reflect on some of the wonderful sights and scenery you have seen on this final day at sea as we sail towards Los Angeles.
