Day 2 Buenos Aires

Upon arrival, you are met by a Hurtigruten representative and transferred to the hotel, to meet the rest of your fellow cruise companions.

Day 3 Buenos Aires - Ushuaia

Transfer to Buenos Aires Airport for a flight to Ushuaia. On arrival, we transfer to embark MS Fridtjof Nansen to begin our unforgettable voyage to Antarctica. This afternoon we enjoy a delicious welcome dinner, to welcome us into life on board.

Days 4-5 Crossing the Drake Passage

We spend two days crossing the Drake Passage (named after Sir Francis Drake), which connects the southern Atlantic and Pacific oceans. Here the warm waters from the north meet the cold, less-salty waters from the south, making the ocean particularly rich in nutrients and forming the basis of the unique marine life in the region. Once we have crossed the Antarctic Convergence, we transition to the crisp, colder air and mighty icebergs begin to appear on the horizon. Breathtaking wildlife, including penguins and possibly magnificent whales may soon be spotted.

Days 6-10 Antarctica

Spend five astounding days in one of the most remote places on earth, Antarctica. During this time we step ashore many times to discover breathtaking scenery, get close to native wildlife including penguins, whales and seals, experience walking on the endless glistening snow and ice, visit old whaling stations and join adventurous activities including kayaking and hiking. Weather, wind, ice and local conditions will determine the exact nature of your programme and schedule. Safety is paramount and the ship’s captain will decide the final sailing itinerary during the voyage. Possible landing sites are shown as follows: Deception Island, South Shetland Islands - A captivating volcanic island, home to a natural harbour, an abandoned whaling station and volcanically warmed sand and waters - sometimes possible to swim in! Half Moon Island - One of the most beautiful areas of the South Shetlands, featuring majestic Antarctic scenery, this stunning island is home to a large Chinstrap penguin colony as well as Antarctic terns, Kelp gulls, Snowy sheathbills, Wilson’s storm petrels and several species of seal. Step ashore to get close to the beautiful wildlife residing here, and put your photography skills to the test. Yankee Harbour - Arrive in this small inner harbour, to discover a large colony of Gentoo penguins estimated to consist of around 4,000 breeding pairs. Neko Harbour - Nestled in the innermost part of Andvord Bay, Neko Harbour was discovered by the Belgian explorer Adrien de Gerlache, and is one of the places that you can place your feet on the Antarctic mainland. A mighty glacier calves here every so often and an array of wildlife including Minke whales, Gentoo penguins and leopard seals can call it home. Paradise Bay - The bay received its name by whalers operating during the early 20th century. Magnificent glaciated mountains, ice floes, breathtaking ice cliffs and icebergs. Disembark to admire the icy scenery and discover the typical Atlantic wildlife residing here, including Gentoo penguin, crabeater seal and whale. Wilhelmina Bay - Often named ‘Whale-mania Bay’ due to the large numbers of humpback whales spotted here, Wilhelmina Bay not only has an abundant whale population, but also outstanding scenery and peaceful waters.

Days 11-12 Crossing the Drake Passage

We continue our adventure with two days retracing our steps back across the Drake Passage. This sea passage was notorious among the early polar explorers and is a unique voyage which only a few have the chance to experience. Join the onboard lectures, or simply take the time to reflect on your wonderful expedition.

Day 13 Ushuaia - Buenos Aires

Our Antarctic adventure over, we disembark and transfer to Ushuaia Airport for a flight to Buenos Aires. Upon arrival we are transferred to our hotel, where we enjoy dinner this evening.

Day 14 Buenos Aires - In flight

This morning, a city tour of Buenos Aires takes us along 9 de Julio Avenue, the widest avenue in the world and Avenida de Mayo that runs into the Plaza De Mayo. In historic San Telmo, there is time to stroll around Plaza Dorrego with its many antique shops, before we continue to La Boca - home to colourful Caminito Street. Our tour finishes in the glamorous Recoleta area. A visit to the city’s impressive cemetery will allow us to visit the grave of Eva Perón (Evita). After lunch, we continue to the airport for your return flight back to the UK.

Day 15 UK

Upon arrival, your Titan vehicle will be waiting for the journey home.
