This morning we embark on a tour of one of New York City’s five boroughs, Manhattan. Many districts and landmarks in Manhattan have become well known and exemplify New York City around the world, hosting many of the world’s most visited attractions such as Times Square, Central Park and Grand Central Terminal. Manhattan also hosts many world-renowned bridges such as the Brooklyn Bridge, and skyscrapers including the Empire State Building. Enjoy an afternoon at leisure to further explore the Big Apple.
New York - Albany - Saratoga Springs
We head north this morning and make a photo stop at the State Capitol Building in Albany before reaching Saratoga Springs. Boasting a name reflective of the mineral springs in the area, Saratoga Springs has been a popular resort destination for over 200 years. Among the few naturally carbonated springs in the country, Saratoga’s mineral springs have been legendary since Native Americans first discovered them. After an orientation tour perhaps visit the Saratoga Race Course, a local highlight and one of the oldest thoroughbred race tracks in the country. Our overnight hotel is the Comfort Inn & Suites (3T).
Saratoga Springs - Burlington
Today we make our way to Burlington in Vermont. We make a stop at the Vermont Country Store, filled with wonder, intrigue, and nostalgia. Next is a photo stop at Quechee Gorge and Woodstock and a drive through the Green Mountain National Forest. Our Burlington hotel is the Holiday Inn (3T).
Burlington - North Conway
Depart Burlington for North Conway, stopping in Stowe en route for some free time. We visit Morse Farm Maple Sugarworks, a store with unique Vermont products, displays and fragrances, and then continue toward North Conway, travelling through the White Mountains and Franconia Notch State Park. Our hotel for the next two nights is the Hampton Inn & Suites (3T).
A year-round resort area, North Conway is bounded on the east by the Maine state line and features a backdrop of over 700,000 acres of protected White Mountain National Forest to the west and north. An excursion to the National Forest will allow time at Crawford Notch State Park, providing access to numerous hiking trails, waterfalls, fishing, wildlife viewing and spectacular mountain ranges. The full day is at leisure to explore before returning to the Fox Ridge Resort.
North Conway - Portland - Ogunquit
This morning we head for Maine with a photo stop at Lake Winnipesaukee - the largest lake in the US state of New Hampshire - and leisure time in Kennebunkport. Historically a shipbuilding and fishing village, Kennebunkport continues to be a popular summer colony and seaside tourist destination. We continue to Portland, the largest city in the US state of Maine. Once a trading and fishing settlement, the city has maintained much of its 19th century architecture, landmarks, and adventurous spirit. Surrounded by island-studded Casco Bay, Portland offers access to neighbouring islands, historic forts and lighthouses. We take an orientation tour before we continue to the Meadowmere Resort (3T) in Ogunquit. Just a 10-minute walk away is one of the best beaches in America - a three-and-a-half-mile peninsula of soft pale sand and grassy dunes. The town also has a vibrant art scene and holds historic memorabilia in local museums, recalling the days of fishing, farming and ship building.
Ogunquit - Boston-Natick
The last leg of our journey is to Boston, a city rich in history and a legacy of arts, culture and education. Enjoy a guided tour to discover the sights and sounds of this very diverse city. Our hotel in Boston is the Crowne Plaza Boston-Natick (4T); located close to many local restaurants and just half an hour’s drive from Downtown.
A free day to explore this historical city.
Boston-Natick - In flight
A final morning for souvenir shopping, before we transfer to Boston Airport for a direct, scheduled Norwegian flight to London.
