From the blues bars of Chicago to the jazz clubs of the Big Easy, this fascinating tour takes us on a journey through America’s music heartland. We’ll discover Nashville’s honky-tonk bars and country music heritage, and explore Graceland Mansion in Memphis. Along the way, we’ll enjoy some one-of-a-kind experiences - we’ll meet local songwriters, sip cocktails with the owner of an antebellum cottage in Natchez, and enjoy a private lunch in New Orleans’ French Quarter.
10 nights in hotels and 1 in flight (accommodation as specified or similar)
Titan’s VIP door-to-door travel service collects you from home for your flight to Chicago. On arrival, we’ll transfer to our hotel. It’s right in the heart of the city, so why not head out to a local blues bar tonight for your first taste of American music?
We’ll kick off with a guided tour of Chicago’s highlights. Enjoy a map-clear view of the city from 360 Chicago, an observation deck a thousand feet above the streets. The wraparound views sweep across skyscrapers, leafy parks and the glinting waters of Lake Michigan. This evening we’ll sit down for a classic deep-dish Chicago pizza at a nearby restaurant.
Leaving the ‘Windy City’ behind, we head south to St Louis, set on the banks of the Mississippi. The city’s centrepiece is the 630-foot-high Gateway Arch, visible for miles around - we’ll pay a visit this afternoon.
We cross into Tennessee today as we make our way towards the spiritual home of country music: Nashville. Tonight, we’ll be lucky enough to be in the audience for a performance at the Grand Ole Opry. This live music show has been running since the ‘20s, welcoming a host of country music’s biggest stars along the way.
Today starts off at the Country Music Hall of Fame, where we’ll immerse ourselves in the history and culture of the genre. Our afternoon is sure to be one to remember - we’ll sit down with two local songwriters for an exclusive private performance.
You’ll also have the chance to chat with them about their work and the Nashville music scene. Perhaps ask for a few recommendations for this evening, where you’ll be free to head out and discover the famous ‘honky-tonk’ music bars on Lower Broadway.
Nashville - Memphis
This morning, we’ll spend some time at Studio B - the ‘home of 1,000 hits’. Hundreds of music stars have laid down tracks here (including the king of rock ‘n’ roll, Elvis Presley). We’ll have the chance to listen to some original recordings in the very rooms they took place in. We’ll then continue our journey to Memphis.
First up today is a visit to the mansion and grounds of Graceland. Your ticket also gives you the chance to see Elvis’ collection of classic cars and peek inside his customised private jets. We’ll then enjoy an orientation tour of Memphis and a trip to the legendary Beale Street, where the sound of Delta blues, rock ‘n’ roll, jazz and gospel drifts from bars and clubs.
We follow the Mississippi River south to Natchez, a hub for cotton trading in the early 18th century. We’ll stop by an antebellum cottage dating back to 1852 for an exclusive tour by the owner. We’ll walk through the house and manicured gardens, then enjoy a quintessentially Southern tradition - afternoon cocktails.
Our final journey south brings us to the ‘Big Easy’ - New Orleans. Our hotel boasts a prime address in the French Quarter, so you’ve got endless jazz bars, restaurants, antiques shops and historic houses on the doorstep. Spend the afternoon exploring or perhaps enjoy an optional tour of the South Louisiana swamps and bayous.
A local guide reveals the city’s highlights on a tour this morning. Afterwards, we’ll make our way to a lovely French Quarter café for a private buffet lunch of Creole and Cajun specialities. Our meal will be accompanied by live zydeco music - a blend of blues, jazz and R&B. You might like to opt for more music this evening, with our optional jazz cruise on the Mississippi.
