London - Denver
Titan’s VIP door-to-door travel service collects you from home, for your journey to London Heathrow Airport and a direct, scheduled British Airways flight to Denver. On arrival our coach transfers you to the Holiday Inn Cherry Creek (3T) for our first two nights. The remainder of the evening is free to relax and settle in.
Modern and vibrant, set against a stunning Rocky Mountain backdrop, Denver makes a fine introduction to the American West. Our included city tour features the gold-domed State Capitol building, one of the steps of which is exactly a mile above sea level, earning Denver its ‘Mile High City’ moniker. The remainder of the day is at leisure for relaxation or independent exploration - perhaps to learn more about Denver’s gold rush-era heritage at Larimer Square and the Historic Lower Downtown District, or wander around the excellent shops of the 16th Street Mall.
Denver - Rocky Mountain National Park - Cheyenne
Today we travel north of Denver to the magnificent Rocky Mountain National Park, with its towering, snow streaked peaks reflected in still blue alpine lakes. After some time to appreciate the outstanding scenery, we continue to Cheyenne, capital of Wyoming and the Little America Hotel (4T).
Cheyenne - Rapid City
We leave Wyoming for South Dakota and Rapid City, the historic freight centre of the gold rush attractively situated at the foot of the Black Hills. Our base for two nights is The Rushmore Hotel (3T).
Rapid City - Mount Rushmore - Crazy Horse
One of the world’s most impressive artistic achievements and an icon of the American West is Mount Rushmore. Here stands, granite-carved, 18m tall faces of former presidents Washington, Jefferson, Roosevelt and Lincoln looking serenely on. This was the 14 year project of 400 sculptors under the direction of Gutzon Borglum, concluding in 1941. The monument itself is memorably featured in the climatic chase scene of Alfred Hitchcock’s North by Northwest. We continue to a work-in-progress since 1948, the Crazy Horse Mountain Memorial. History in the making, it is the largest sculptural undertaking ever, on a scale exceeding even that of the Great Pyramid. Have time at leisure to enjoy lunch in beautiful Keystone before returning to Rapid City.
Rapid City - Sheridan
We travel onwards to Sheridan, a pleasant town which owes its prominence to a history of trapping, ranching, mining and railroad building. We take an orientation tour upon arrival before we check in to our hotel, the Best Western (3T), Sheridan.
Sheridan - Cody - West Yellowstone
Our journey westward continues to the town of Cody, named after William Cody, better known as the pioneering ‘wild west’ showman Buffalo Bill, where we stop with time for lunch. We continue to our hotel for two nights, the ideally-located Gray Wolf Inn (2T+).
Yellowstone National Park
We have a full day’s tour in this unforgettable wonderland of wildlife and wilderness. You will be introduced to the thermal features of the area including the roaring geysers shooting thousands of gallons of scalding water into the air, including the iconic ‘Old Faithful’ geyser. Marvel at beautiful mountains and cascading waterfalls in the company of an expert local guide who will talk us through this remarkable National Park.
West Yellowstone - Missoula
Today we visit the Grizzly Bear and Wolf Discovery Center, dedicated to educating visitors about grizzly bears and grey wolves. Later, as we cross into Montana, we travel through the meandering scenic mountain passes before reaching Missoula, located in an old, glacial lakebed where we stay overnight at the Hilton Garden Inn (3T).
Missoula - Waterton
Today we leave the captivating American Rockies behind as we travel north to the Canadian border and Waterton, Alberta. We spend the next two nights at the Waterton Lakes Lodge Resort (3T).
Waterton National Park
We enjoy a morning visit to Waterton Lakes National Park which will include the spectacular sights of the area. We have arranged a scenic boat cruise across Waterton Lake and the American border (subject to weather conditions during early season). The park as a whole was declared by UNESCO, in 1979, as a biosphere reserve, and as such has a spectacular array of flora and fauna.
Waterton - Banff
We depart Waterton this morning for Banff and continue into Alberta and Banff National Park. Our hotel for the next two nights is the Banff Park Lodge (3T).
Banff National Park
Enjoy a full day at leisure in one of the loveliest small towns in North America. Banff National Park - Calgary
Today we spend time exploring Canada’s oldest National Park in the Rocky Mountains. Established in 1885, the park is renowned for stunning mountainous terrain with numerous glaciers and ice fields, dense coniferous forest, and alpine landscapes. One of its most famous lakes is the enchanting Lake Louise. Late afternoon our journey takes us to Calgary, where we check in to our well-located hotel, the Carriage House Inn (3T+).
