    Day 2 - At sea

As we sail towards our first destination, you’re free to do as much (or as little) as you wish. Maybe start your day off with a brisk walk around the deck. Or opt for a yoga class. Spend the afternoon learning a craft, or perfecting your golf swing. After your choice of dinner, you can catch a show or dance into the night.

  • Kiel Canal Transit, Germany

Day 3 - Kiel Canal Transit, Germany

Connecting the North Sea to the Baltic Sea, the Kiel Canal is one of the world’s busiest shipping routes. This 61-mile-long marvel of engineering allows vessels to avoid around 250 nautical miles of sea sailing. But it’s as picturesque as it is important and sailing slowly along the canal provides gorgeous scenes of lush-green countryside and a collection of interesting villages and towns.

  • Copenhagen, Denmark

    Day 4 - Copenhagen, Denmark

This morning we sail into the charming Danish capital. Learn about Copenhagen’s royal roots at Christiansborg Palace and Amalienborg Palace, as well as Rosenborg Castle. Or walk over to Langelinie Pier to see the Little Mermaid sculpture. Save time for a potter around Nyhavn, where brightly coloured townhouses (now converted into Scandi-cool cafés and bars) sit alongside a historic canal.

  • Tallinn, Estonia

    Day 6 - Tallinn, Estonia

Cobbled streets, turrets and Gothic spires, Tallinn has a bit of a fairytale feel to it. Must-sees include Toompea Hill, with its medieval houses and alleyways. The medieval town hall is one of the best preserved in northern Europe. The astonishing, ornate, 19th-century Alexander Nevsky Cathedral was built by an earlier Tsar, Peter the Great, and now houses part of the Estonian Museum of Art.

  • Helsinki, Finland

    Day 7 - Helsinki, Finland

Today, discover Helsinki’s architectural gems (the neo-classical buildings of Senate Square, the art-nouveau railway station, the marble modernism of the Finlandia Hall) or get out of town and into Finland’s great outdoors. Take a boat around the cluster of islands scattered around the city, or perhaps venture to one of the nearby sandy beaches. The port also boasts a UNESCO-listed sea fortress just a short distance from the shore, which is worth the short ferry journey to explore its historic walls and gates.

  • St Petersburg, Russia (overnight)

Days 8-9 - St Petersburg, Russia (overnight)

The jewel in the Baltic crown and Russia's most European city, elegant St Petersburg was the imperial capital for two centuries, and Tsar Peter the Great's 'Window on the West'. We have two days here to explore this utterly captivating city, with baroque palaces, wide elegant streets, ornate bridges and broad curving canals.

The main street, Nevsky Prospekt, is 5km long and lined with cafés, bars, restaurants and shops. On Neva embankment, the Winter Palace, with over a thousand rooms, is the most magnificent of six buildings that make up the Hermitage Museum. It’s one of 125 museums and galleries, including the imposing seafront Peterhof Royal Palace and Park.

  • Gothenburg, Sweden

    Day 12 - Gothenburg, Sweden

We arrive early morning in Sweden’s second city. Perhaps wander the cobbled streets of Haga, the city’s oldest district. You’ll find plenty of cafés serving coffee and warm kanelbullar (cinnamon buns - the perfect autumn treat), as well as traditional wooden houses. Museum-wise, you could marvel at the original Viking longship in the Museum of Gothenburg, or view Rembrandt and Picasso masterpieces in the Konstmuseum.

The world-famous Trädgårdsföreningen - the Garden Society of Gothenburg - is one of the city’s must-visit sites. It features gorgeous lawns, woodlands and stunning flower beds filled with thousands of rose species, and remains one of Europe's best-kept 19th-century parks.
