From Rome to Nice

Following a two-night hotel stay in the ‘Eternal City’ of Rome, you’ll board Aegean Odyssey to cruise the beautiful islands of Sardinia and Corsica. You’ll call at Elba, where Napoleon Bonaparte was once exiled, and continue to the great Tuscan cities of Florence, Lucca and Pisa, exploring treasures such as the Uffizi Gallery and the Leaning Tower. Sailing on to the French Riviera, you can visit pretty Aix-en-Provence or medieval Avignon, with its magnificent Papal Palace, spend time in glamorous Cannes and enjoy a stroll through marvellous Monte Carlo.

London - Rome, Italy

Titan’s VIP door-to-door travel service collects you from home for your journey to London Heathrow or Gatwick Airport and a direct, scheduled British Airways or another leading airline flight to Rome. On arrival, you will be met by Voyages to Antiquity representatives and transferred to your hotel.

Two excursions are available today: on the first, you’ll visit some of Rome’s most famous landmarks, including the Colosseum, the Forum and St Peter’s Basilica, while the second takes you into the ancient Catacombs before venturing into the Alban Hills in the Lazio countryside. There will also be an optional excursion to Tivoli and the Villa d’Este.

Day 3 - Rome - Civitavecchia

You are free to explore Rome at your own pace today, or you might like to join our optional excursion to the magnificent Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel. This evening we transfer to Civitavecchia to embark Aegean Odyssey (4T).

Day 4 - Olbia, Costa Smeralda, Sardinia (overnight)

We arrive in the port of Olbia in Sardinia this morning, where we dock overnight. You are free to explore independently today. Perhaps discover the treasures on show at Olbia’s excellent Archaeological Museum or head out of town to relax on the glorious beaches of the Costa Smeralda.

Day 5 - Olbia - cruising the Lavezzi Islands and Maddalena Archipelago - Bonifacio, Corsica

Enjoy a half-day tour, with a scenic drive along the coast of Aranci Bay, in sight of the Tavolara and Molara Islands, past the beaches of Golfo di Marinella to arrive at Porto Rotondo, one of Europe’s most glamourous destinations. Planned in 1965 for the Venetian noble family, the Donà dalle Rose, the town is now the playground of the rich and famous from around the world, where the Mediterranean vegetation hides the private villas of multi-millionaires. Your guide will take you to the Marina, San Marco Square and the resort area of restaurants, bars, shops and beaches, where there will be some free time to explore before a return to Olbia. The tour will also take you to the 11th-12th-century San Simplico Church, after which there will be a free afternoon to explore at leisure, before returning to the ship.

Day 6 - Elba, Italy

The Italian island of Elba is forever associated with Napoleon Bonaparte, and on today’s tour you’ll visit Villa dei Mulini, where the emperor lived in exile from 1814 to 1815. Your tour also includes the picturesque fishing village of Porto Azzuro and the ruins of a Roman villa, overlooking Portoferraio. Free afternoon at leisure or take an optional tour to Capoliveri for wine tasting.

Day 7 - Livorno (Florence) (overnight)

Our ship arrives in Livorno, where we dock overnight, and this morning we travel to the beautiful city of Florence. There is a choice of two tours, begin at the magnificent Duomo, and includes the Piazza della Signoria, the Ponte Vecchio and the Church of Santa Croce, which features frescoes by Giotto and the tombs of Michelangelo and Galileo. Or, spend the day visiting the sophisticated Churches of Florence.

Day 8 - Livorno (Lucca and Pisa)

Today’s excursion takes us first to Lucca, visiting the Cathedral of San Martino, where masterpieces by Tintoretto and Ghirlandaio are on display, before continuing to Pisa and the extraordinary Piazza dei Miracoli, watched over by the unmistakable Leaning Tower.

Day 9 - Cruising the Italian & French Rivieras

We spend a leisurely day at sea, sailing along the Italian and French coasts.

Day 10 - Marseille, France

You have a choice of tours from Marseille today. The first is a morning sightseeing tour of the city, followed by a trip to the charming town of Aix-en-Provence in the afternoon while the second visits Avignon, with a guided tour of the impressive Papal Palace.

Day 11 - Cannes (overnight)

We dock in Cannes overnight and this morning we have a choice of two excursions. Head inland to the pretty Provencal village of St-Paul-de-Vence, with its many art galleries. Or enjoy an optional tour that drives along the French Riviera, stopping in Nice and Monaco, where a guided walking tour introduces us to highlights such as the Prince’s Palace and the Grand Casino.

Day 12 - Cannes

Enjoy free time in glamorous Cannes today. Relax on the beach, take a stroll along the Promenade de la Croisette or perhaps take an optional tour to nearby Antibes.

Day 13 Nice - London

Transfer to Nice Airport for a British Airways or another leading airline flight to London Heathrow or Gatwick Airport. Upon arrival you will be met and guided to your Titan vehicle, for the journey home.
