Day 2 - Budapest

This morning our tour of Budapest gives some insight into its ever-evolving story - the union of Buda and Pest, the evolution of baroque, neoclassical and art nouveau architecture; the 19th century ‘golden age’ and the pockmarks from WWII. The rest of the day’s at leisure to linger in the shadow of Parliament Building’s iconic Gothic dome and sample goulash in a traditional Magyar restaurant.

Day 3 - Bratislava

Bratislava may have been Slovakia’s capital for just a couple of decades, but its story is far longer. Delve into the Old Town for baroque palaces, a Renaissance castle and medieval marvels, neighboured by communist-era concrete blocks and countless cafés filled with tempting local treats. Explore the cobbled streets at your own pace, or take an optional excursion on a miniature train, passing important sights like the 18th century Slovak Philharmonic Hall and the hilltop castle.

MS Bellejour (4T)

Day 4 - Vienna

Vienna’s appeal is ceaseless. As we take a tour through the centre, the countless jaw-dropping sights include resplendent palaces, the tiled roof of St Stephen’s Cathedral and the prices in the many designer shops! If you can tear yourself away from the wide selection of fantastic museums this afternoon, why not join a waltz lesson back on board our ship, and book yourself a seat for an evening classical concert of popular work by Mozart and Strauss, in one of Vienna’s elegant palaces.

MS Bellejour (4T)

Day 5 - Dürnstein - Melk

Not only is Wachau beautiful, but this area is perfect for growing grapes and some of the world’s finest white wines originate from these hillsides. We start today with a walking tour of Dürnstein, full of 16th century houses, plus a colourful monastery. Then we fulfil the opportunity to sample a selection of local wines. We spend this afternoon sailing to Melk.

MS Bellejour (4T)

Day 6 - Melk - Linz

Melk Abbey’s towers challenge the surrounding trees for height; but its hilltop location gives it an advantage and a powerful position on the riverside edge of Melk. This morning we take time to enjoy the baroque yellow façade, the rich interiors with ornate paintings, religious frescoes, remarkable marble sculptures and invaluable library; and the perfectly manicured formal gardens. This afternoon we sail to Linz.

MS Bellejour (4T)

Day 7 - Linz

Linz is a city that hasn’t stood still. The vast Main Square showcases early 18th century Austria, while striking glass structures like Lentos Art Museum give the city a contemporary ambience, reflecting the diverse ideas you’d look for in the 2009 European Capital of Culture. You may like to follow a guide on an optional tour to the most important city spots, or make your own way to highlights such as Ars Electronica Centre or the Castle Museum.

MS Bellejour (4T)

Day 8 - Passau

Where three rivers meet, a town is likely to blossom. Passau has filled this obligation for millennia. As you explore this town, on your own wanderings or guided on an optional excursion, you’ll find romantic lanes and soaring towers. Head inside the opulent white interior of St Stephen’s Cathedral and you’ll learn about the world’s largest cathedral organ.

MS Bellejour (4T)

Day 9 - Regensburg

When the monks of St Columbanus were looking for a tranquil place to build an abbey, they couldn’t have found a more perfect spot than a secluded bank in a wooded limestone gorge, with the Danube gently flowing alongside. Today you’ll discover that this isn’t all Weltenburg Abbey has to offer - baroque architecture, frescoed ceilings and the world’s oldest monastic brewery are amongst the highlights. The afternoon is free to explore UNESCO-listed Regensburg, home to a Roman gateway and Gothic cathedral, before we sail along the Danube in the early evening.

MS Bellejour (4T)

Day 10 Regensburg - Prague - UK

We transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK. Upon arrival, your Titan vehicle will be waiting for the journey home.
