Have you ever wished to stay in a tranquil Alpine village and take a walk on green mountain slopes with little more noise than the ringing of cowbells, or dreamt of gazing across a sea of snowy mountain peaks. Have you imagined tasting Swiss cheese, chocolates and wine in the very place they’re produced? This holiday in two of Switzerland’s lovely destinations, including the stunning Royal Savoy Hotel in Lausanne, takes in all this and more.
7 nights in hotel (accommodation as specified or similar)
This tour has an exclusive Trailblazer departure, only available for Travellers' Club members
Titan’s Trailblazers have been designed to enable our members to become a pioneer and trial a brand new Titan tour. We are very pleased to be able to offer these exclusively to the club. If you’ve travelled with Titan before, you’re automatically a member – find out more here.
Titan’s VIP door-to-door travel service collects you from home, for your flight to Geneva. On arrival, transfer to the Eurotel Victoria Villars (4T), in Villars-sur-Ollon.
In the heart of the Vaud Alps, high above the Rhone valley, sits the resort of Villars-sur-Ollon. We take a tour of the village before exploring at leisure. Follow signposted footpaths into the blissful surrounds or, with your ‘Access Card’ travel freely on the cable cars, mountain railways and local buses, perhaps head to the romantic mountain lake of Bretaye.
Glacier 3000 - GoldenPass Panoramic Train - Montreux
An aerial cable car will take us into a unique glacier world. From Glacier 3000, a summit station high in the Vaud Alps, the views stretch across 24 snow-capped mountains over 4000m high, including Eiger, Jungfrau, the Matterhorn and even Mont Blanc in the distance. There is free time for lunch, and those brave enough can cross the Peak Walk by Tissot, the first suspension bridge in the world to connect two mountain peaks. We’ll descend to Col du Pillon by cable car and continue to Gstaad by coach, to board the GoldenPass Panoramic train to Montreux. These ultra-modern trains are fitted with panoramic windows to fully appreciate the beautiful landscape. Spend time exploring Montreux, a lakeside town that includes Charlie Chaplin and Freddie Mercury in its list of past inhabitants, before returning to Villars by coach.
Your choices today include an optional tour by coach and train to Zermatt. All the footpaths of this car-free village are said to lead to the foot of the Matterhorn. The excursion also includes the Gornergrat, from where the glorious view of the Matterhorn is uninterrupted.
Villars-sur-Ollon - Lausanne
We’ll learn about Swiss wine this morning, at the Vine and Wine Museum at Aigle Castle. This turreted medieval château has stood amongst acres of vineyards for centuries. Chillon Castle is next. This beautiful building on the banks of Lake Geneva was a profitable toll station for the Counts of Savoy, and the dungeons were a great inspiration for Lord Byron’s pen. Today it is the most visited historic building in Switzerland. We’ll also taste local wines, local cheese and charcuterie, at a family-run winery in Chexbres. We continue to Lausanne and our stunning hotel, the Royal Savoy (5T).
Lausanne - Évian-les-Bains
Experience the Olympic Museum to feel the Olympic spirit and study the history of the Olympic Games from antiquity to today. The rich collections from all over the world reveal the worlds of sport, design and technology. A boat will then be our transport to Évian-les-Bains, the spa town famous for its mineral water, with beautiful buildings providing late 19th century and early 20th century charm.
Following a scenic journey through Regional Park Gruyère Pays-d’Enhaut to Gruyères, we’ll learn about the village’s famous cheese at La Maison du Gruyère, and take a lesson in cooking fondue. Enjoy a meat platter and your fondue for lunch before continuing to the area’s other popular treat at Maison Cailler. A tour will show the art of chocolate production, with the opportunity to taste some of their exquisite creations.
Day 8 Lausanne - Geneva - UK
Transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK. Upon arrival, your Titan vehicle will be waiting for the journey home.
