Sweden's Scenic Waterways & Cities
Day 1 Newcastle
Titan’s VIP door-to-door travel service collects you from home, for your journey to Newcastle. Embark Balmoral (3.5-star) in preparation for a late afternoon sailing.
Day 2 At sea
As we sail to our first exciting destination, you’re free to do as much (or as little) as you wish. Maybe start your day off with a brisk walk around the deck. Or opt for a yoga class. Spend the afternoon learning a craft, or perfecting your golf swing. After your choice of dinner, you can catch a show or dance into the night.
Day 3 Scenic fjord cruising, Sweden
You won’t want to miss a moment as we cruise amongst Sweden’s protected fjords, lined with lush green fields, dense woodlands, rolling hills and steep cliffs. We start with the largest - Gullmarsfjorden, which holds a selection of unique marine species. Enjoy views of craggy islands and beautiful bays as we continue to weave through Sweden’s fjord-laced west coast.
Day 4 Malmö
Rapidly developing while still retaining its old world charm, Malmö is a delight of contemporary attractions blended with classically Scandinavian historic districts. It includes a fine castle and Old Town (Gamla Staden). From the harbour, the world’s longest cable-tied road and rail bridge, Öresund Bridge, directly links Malmö to Copenhagen, Denmark’s capital.
Day 5 Visby
The UNESCO World Heritage town of Visby is one of the most remarkable in Scandinavia. The ‘City of Roses and Ruins’ is like a living museum, renowned for its scenic beauty and stunning historic sites. Uncovering the 12th century Gunpowder Tower, Love Gate and Långa Lisa (the tallest tower in the well-preserved medieval wall) is highly recommended.
Days 6-7 Stockholm (overnight)
Founded over 700 years ago, Stockholm’s harbour is the epitome of elegance. The charming Old Town district, Gamla Stan, is home to historic, ochre-coloured buildings and monuments. The extensive choice of museums includes the Vasa Maritime Museum, the unique Skansen Open Air Museum, the Nobel Prize Museum and the ABBA Museum. The stunning Royal Palace and the Drottningholm Palace are also well worth seeing during your two-day visit. We depart late afternoon on day 7, with a cruise through the Stockholm archipelago. Each of the 30,000 rocky isles is unique; some feature ancient villages, some are inhabited with colourful wooden houses; others are compact havens of woodland. Ship to shore tender service.
Day 8 At sea
Spend the day on board. Maybe read a book and relax or choose to listen to a fascinating talk by a guest speaker. Enjoy lunchtime melodies or a piano recital, then walk a mile with the cruise fitness instructor.
Days 9-10 Gothenburg (overnight)
The laid-back seaport of Gothenburg has so much appeal we’ve given you two days to enjoy it. Neoclassical architecture lines Gothenburg’s streets, where trams rattle through to attractions like the Museum of World Culture, the Gothenburg Museum of Art, the aeronautic Aeroseum, and the Volvo Museum. Trädgårdsföreningen is one of Europe's best-kept parks - an idyllic place to stop and smell the roses in the sunshine, or seek shade in the woodlands.
Day 11 At sea
As we sail home you may want to rest after all your sightseeing. If you’re still full of energy, there‘s lots to fill your time - from quizzes, games and music recitals to walks on deck and dance classes. And of course there’s plenty of opportunity to enjoy all the tasty food options.
Day 12 Newcastle
Early this morning we arrive back in Newcastle and your Titan vehicle will be waiting for the journey home.
