Summary

Not every holiday lets you follow in the footsteps of pilgrims. But on this very special tour we’ll trace one of the Middle Ages’ most important Christian pilgrimage routes in Galicia and learn more about their fascinating culture. Along the way we visit Pamplona and the cathedrals, palaces and medieval towns whose history intermingles with that of the pilgrimage. The tour concludes as you stand before the soaring Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, connecting with centuries of pilgrims who’ve travelled before you.

    UK - Bilbao - Sos del Rey Católico

    Titan’s VIP door-to-door travel service collects you from home for your flight to Bilbao. We then transfer to our hotel for two nights.

  • Puente La Reina day 2

    Pamplona - Olite

    Our full-day excursion takes us first to Pamplona, for a guided tour of the city. Spend time at leisure to enjoy lunch here before we continue to the medieval town of Olite and the impressive Royal Palace of Olite. Its fairytale turrets and sandstone walls stand out within the surrounding rolling countryside, and we’ll discover the history behind Navarra’s royals on a tour.


  • Logrono day 3

    Logroño - Santo Domingo de la Calzada

    We travel to Logroño, capital of La Rioja region, for a fascinating walking tour and then continue to a bodega for enjoy some wine tasting. We’ll conclude today in Santo Domingo de la Calzada where in the 11th century, a priest called Dominic - later Saint Dominic - built a paved causeway for pilgrims following the Way of St James.

  • Lerma day 4

    Burgos - Carrion de los Condes - León

    Visit Burgos and its cathedral, declared a World Heritage Site in 1984. We take a pleasant guided walking tour here with free time for lunch. This afternoon we stop in Carrion de los Condes where we visit the Zoilo Monastery, before continuing to León. Dinner for the next two nights is taken at a local Spanish restaurant to sample regional produce.

  • Leon day 5

    León

    We have a half-day orientation tour of León, including the city hall, popularly known as the ‘Balcony of the City’, Basilica de San Isidoro and cathedral. The rest of the day is spent at leisure to enjoy the hotel and its surrounds.


  • Astorga day 6

    Hospital de Orbigo - Astorga - Vilalba

    We head north, stopping along the way at the town of Hospital de Orbigo, including its fabulous Gothic bridge. A further stop is made at Astorga, lying as it does at the crossroads of the Pilgrim’s Road and Ruta de la Plata (Silver Road), with lovely medieval architecture and the Episcopal Palace by Gaudi. We stay for two nights in Vilalba.

  • La Coruna day 7

    La Coruña

    Take a morning excursion today to La Coruña, the largest city in Galicia, before spending the afternoon at leisure.


  • Santiago de Compo day 8

    Santiago de Compostela

    We reach the final destination on the pilgrim’s journey - Santiago de Compostela. Our walking tour through the lovely streets and squares includes the wonderful cathedral, which contains the tomb of the Apostle St James. We stay for two nights in a parador on the main square by the cathedral, in one of the oldest hotels in the world. This quite stunning location provides a fitting final stop on a memorable tour.

  • Pontevedra day 9

    Santiago de Compostela

    Spend today at leisure to explore your surrounds and relax in your beautiful parador, or take an optional full-day tour to the city of Pontevedra, and the town of Combarro - the smallest old quarter in Galicia.


  • VIP Inbound

    Day 10 Santiago de Compostela - Porto - UK

    Transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK. Upon arrival, your Titan vehicle will be waiting for the journey home.
