Day 1 - Southampton
Titan’s VIP door-to-door travel service collects you from home, for your journey to Southampton where our staff will greet you and assist with embarking Braemar (3T+) in readiness for a late evening sailing.
Day 2 - At sea
Spend a relaxing day on board as Braemar sails towards La Coruña.
Day 3 - La Coruña, Spain
Arrive this afternoon in the Bay of Coruña and the bustling seaport of La Coruña. The city hosts incredible medieval buildings and monuments that mix with stylish modernist houses that line the waterfront. Visit the medieval old quarter, Ciudad Vieja, to discover ancient Roman structures, historic monuments and buildings including the 12th century Church of Santiago, the Military Museum, and the interesting Museum of Sacred Art. Alternatively, you can simply head to the beach, or visit the city’s vibrant ‘cultural hub’, Maria Pita Square, where you will find many bars and restaurants.
Day 4 - Avilés
A former maritime and farming town, the scenic city of Avilés is now one of Spain’s most important industrial centres. The city centre is stylish and easy to navigate, with plenty of shops, pretty cafes and a number of museums and galleries to visit. Largely pedestrianised, the Old Town of Avilés consists of several historic squares and plazas that are interlinked by a number of pretty streets and boulevards from centuries past. Some true architectural wonders include the Camposagrado Palace, Palacio de Valdecarzana - Avilés’ sole example of civil medieval architecture - and the 13th and 14th century churches that are dotted around the city.
Day 5 - Santander
Located on Spain’s north coast, Santander is an elegant city set against a natural backdrop of sea and mountains. The Paseo de Pereda, with its typical houses with miradors, has a lively boulevard which separates the coast from the historic quarter of the city, and the nearby cathedral is one of the oldest buildings in the city. The beaches in Santander are protected from the wind by the bay, resulting in beautiful calm waters. For seafood lovers, be sure to try the local fried squid or breaded whitebait; or for meat eaters, the cocido montañés (stew made of beans, meat and cabbage) is symbolic of this region of Spain.
Day 6 - 7 - Getxo (Bilbao) (overnight)
We stop overnight in the pretty seaside town of Getxo, the gateway for Bilbao. Step ashore to explore the beaches, beautiful architecture and impressive monuments - including the world’s oldest transport bridge - Vizcaya Bridge. The town’s Old Port area is particularly inspiring with its pretty palaces and exquisite gardens. You can choose to visit Bilbao from here - the largest city in the Basque country and home to the Guggenheim Museum, Museum of Fine Art and the 14th century Gothic-Style cathedral.
