    Day 1 - UK - Moscow

    Day 2 - Moscow

    See Moscow’s most iconic sights with a local expert - the Kremlin, Bolshoi Theatre, Red Square and St Basil’s Cathedral and Tverskaya Street - as well as some under-the-radar secrets, both above ground and below. Then take a tour of the metro and Arbat street. Glamorous, grand Moscow was the capital of the medieval nation. In the evening, enjoy the captain’s welcome reception and dinner.

    Day 3 - Moscow

    This morning, you’ll have the chance to explore the Kremlin, a fortified complex in the heart of Moscow and the government’s headquarters. It offers an intriguing look at Russia’s political and cultural heritage. Take a look at a collection of Russian regalia at the Armoury Museum and wander through the exquisite Cathedral Square. Plenty of adventures await this afternoon with free time in Moscow to explore on your own.

    Day 4 - Uglich

    Cruising through the Moscow Canal, you’ll get your first glimpse of rural Russia on your way to the historic town of Uglich. The ship docks within walking distance of the town, so you may browse charming local shops, stroll along the promenade, and take in the Wonderful Assumption Church. Legend, history, art and mystery come together under the blue domes of the Church of St Dmitry on the Blood, built where the son of Ivan the Terrible was found slain. Inside you’ll see magnificent frescoes and icons from the 17th and 18th centuries. Alternatively take a Hydropower GULAG tour.

    Day 5 - Yaroslavl - Cruising Lake Rybinsk

    Stroll through Yaroslavl’s UNESCO-designated city centre with a local expert. Step inside the domed Church of Elijah the Prophet, whose interior is covered in frescoes from the floor to the top of the domes, then relax aboard a scenic lake cruise.

  • Day 6 - Goritsy - Cruising Lake Onega

    Beyond Russia’s major cities lies a completely different world. Two tiny villages are on today’s itinerary - Goritsy, a farming settlement, and Kirillov, which has extraordinary churches linked to the tsars. Later, relax on board as you cruise through the second-largest lake in Europe. Lake Onega has 1,369 islands, and is fed by 58 rivers.

    Day 7 - Kizhi Island

    Marvel at the all-wood Church of Transfiguration; its 22 intricate, shimmering shingled domes were built without a single nail. Or explore the UNESCO-designated open-air museum, which presents homes from all over northern Russia.

    Day 8 - Mandrogi - Cruising Lake Ladoga

    Travel back to the 19th century at a reconstructed Russian village. Visit talented artisans who make items using old-world materials and techniques, such as traditional dolls, painted Karelian birchwood boxes and miniature Fabergé-style eggs mounted as pendants. You’ll also sample the best piroshki in Russia at a rustic Shashlik lunch.

  • Day 9 - St Petersburg

    Peter the Great took all the might, ambition and money at his disposal, imported the finest architects from Italy, the greatest decorative artists and the most celebrated painters to create this extraordinarily beautiful city. St Petersburg is a city of canals, palaces and cathedrals. Take a panoramic tour on land and water. In the evening, be treated to an exquisite ballet performance.

    Day 10 - St Petersburg

    Visit the world-famous Hermitage Museum in the Winter Palace, and prepare to be amazed. This former residence of the tsars is home to a massive collection of priceless art, including work by Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo and Rodin, plus astonishingly beautiful pieces from the nomadic cultures of Russia.

  • Day 11 - St Petersburg

    Tour the splendid Catherine Palace and Park, once the summer residence of the tsars. This rococo masterpiece offers unrivalled luxury, including a room made entirely of amber. Dine on traditional Russian fare at a local restaurant, then spend the rest of the day exploring on your own. Spend your last evening on board at the Captain’s farewell dinner.

Visa Information

Commencing 10th December 2014 it became necessary for all UK and Irish residents flying into Russia to present themselves at one of two centres, either London or Edinburgh, between one and two months prior to travel date. The applicants will have to provide fingerprints, Passports and completed Application Forms.

Provided that all documentation is accurate and accepted, the Russian authorities will process the Application and return the Passport, with the Russian Visa, by post direct to the applicant within approximately 14 days. This visit would take place between one and two months before travel and of course would have to be undertaken by each traveller.
