Day 1 Liverpool
Titan’s VIP door-to-door travel service collects you from home, for your journey to Liverpool, where our staff will greet you and assist with embarking Boudicca (3T+) in preparation for a late evening sailing.
Days 2-4 At sea
Relax and enjoy two full days aboard Boudicca, as you familiarise yourself with your ship’s extensive facilities.
Day 5 Praia da Vitoria, Azores
This afternoon, we arrive in Praia da Vitoria, on the island of Terceira in the Azores. First settled by the Portuguese in the 15th century, it is the oldest city in this island group and boasts a stunning natural harbour and attractive modern marina. The Old Town is a pleasant place to wander, with historic buildings such as the whitewashed Church of Santa Cruz, originally built in 1456 and remodelled a number of times over the centuries due to earthquake damage. You could also spend the day on the town’s sandy beach, or take a trip to the port town of Angra do Heroismo, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, home to the island’s 16th century cathedral. We sail late tonight.
Day 6 Horta (overnight)
Today we reach the island of Faial, and its main town, the tranquil little port of Horta, which has long played host to transatlantic yachtsmen. The 17th century Sao Salvador Church is one of the oldest in the Azores, while also worth a look is the Scrimshaw Museum, with its interesting collection of whale bones and teeth carved and engraved by local artists. We stay overnight in Horta.
Day 7 Horta
There will be more time this morning to explore Horta before we set sail again this afternoon. Maybe relax on one of the nearby beaches or head out on a whale-watching trip.
Day 8 Ponta Delgada
We continue our discovery of the Azores this morning, arriving at Ponta Delgada on Sao Miguel, the islands’ cosmopolitan capital. Explore the cobbled lanes and squares of the historic centre, its baroque and Gothic churches, museums and well-tended public gardens, browse the boutiques and perhaps visit the Convent of Nossa Senhora da Esperança, whose ornate chapel is adorned with exquisite glazed tiles. You may also like to join our optional excursion to the stunning crater lakes of Sete Cidades, an extinct volcano. We will also visit the lovely António Borges Botanical Garden and a pineapple plantation. We leave late this evening.
Day 9 At sea
Enjoy a leisurely day at sea, perhaps take a dip in the pool or unwind with a massage in the spa centre.
Day 10 Funchal, Madeira
This morning, we arrive in Funchal, the capital of the Portuguese island of Madeira. Founded in the 15th century, Funchal is a picturesque little city which enjoys a pleasant Mediterranean-style climate. Explore the famous Botanical Gardens, home to 2,500 exotic plant species from across the world, stroll through the historic Old Town and maybe enjoy afternoon tea at the famous Reid’s Hotel. We sail late tonight.
Day 11 At sea
Another relaxing day on board Boudicca as we sail towards mainland Portugal.
Day 12 Leixoes (Porto), Portugal
This afternoon we arrive in Leixoes, the cruise port for Portugal’s second city, Porto. Set on the banks of the River Douro, this UNESCO-listed city is adorned with beautiful baroque and neo-classical buildings and there is plenty to see and do. Stroll along the cobbled lanes of the historic Ribeira district beside the river and visit landmarks such as the 19th century Palacio da Bolsa and the Romanesque cathedral. Porto is of course, famous for its eponymous Port Wine production and no visit is complete without sampling a glass in one of the renowned port lodges of Vila Nova de Gaia across the river.
Days 13-14 At sea
Enjoy your final two days aboard Boudicca as we sail back to the UK.
Day 15 Liverpool
We disembark after breakfast and you will be met and guided to your Titan vehicle, for the journey home.
