    Balmoral (3.5-star)

  • At sea

    Day 2 - At sea

As we sail towards Norway, you’re free to do as much (or as little) as you wish. Maybe start your day off with a brisk walk around the deck. Or opt for a yoga class. Spend the afternoon learning a craft, or perfecting your golf swing. After your choice of dinner, you can catch a show or dance into the night.

    Balmoral (3.5-star)

  • Ålesund, Norway

    Day 3 - Ålesund, Norway

Wake up to towers and turrets, ornaments and balconies, steeples and spires in Ålesund this morning. The city was almost completely rebuilt after a devastating fire in the early 20th century, and its Jugendstil (art-nouveau) streets are now regarded as one of Europe’s true visual experiences, not to mention a legacy of a huge rebuilding project that was completed in just three years. Its pedestrianised streets are a mix of art galleries, shops and lively cafes, all leading to the 418 steps that climb Mount Aksla. If you’re feeling up to it, the panoramic views from the summit are fabulous - enjoy the view of the city below, the archipelago and the Sunmore Alps.

    Balmoral (3.5-star)

  • At sea

    Day 4 - At sea

Keep your brain active with the morning quiz, then why not perfect your dance moves in the afternoon with a beginners’ class. After dinner, you could continue the dancing theme and join the hosted dancing, or choose to watch the professionals instead.

    Balmoral (3.5-star)

  • Tromsø

    Day 5 - Tromsø

The island city of Tromsø is one of northern Norway’s true delights. A major cultural hub above the Arctic Circle, its neo-classical architecture and sprawl of traditional wooden houses give it an irresistible old-world charm. Be sure to visit the striking Arctic Cathedral, inspired by the landscapes of Northern Norway, this iceberg-shaped building features a beautiful glass mosaic. For fantastic views of the city and the stunning landscapes that surround it, take the cable car to the top of the Storsteinen Mountain, which stands some 420 metres above sea level. Tromsø is also a famed viewing point for the fabled Northern Lights. Keep your eyes peeled this evening for a chance to see them dance across the night sky.

    Balmoral (3.5-star)

  • Narvik

    Day 6 - Narvik

Founded in 1903, Narvik is a relatively new city - but there’s still some fascinating history to be uncovered here. Other than its idyllic harbour edged by colourful wooden houses, the real appeal here is the city’s spectacular location. There are snow-topped-mountains in every direction, islands to the west and fantastic fjords to the north and south. A cable car ride from the centre of town to the viewpoint on the Narvikfjellet Mountain gives fabulous views over the Ofotfjord and surrounding area. In the town itself, the Ofoten Museum exhibits local history dating back 5,000 years and Narvik Church is a fine example of Scandinavian architecture.

    Balmoral (3.5-star)

  • Bodø

    Day 7 - Bodø

Today we stretch to the northernmost point of the staggeringly beautiful Kystriksveien Coastal Route to the charming town of Bodø. Here, the majestic stained-glass windows and delicate tapestries within Bodø Cathedral are worth a visit and the town’s past can be uncovered at one of its museums. But the city’s main charm lies in the rugged peaks in the distance and a collection of dramatic islands that support the world’s densest population of sea eagles.

    Balmoral (3.5-star)

  • At sea

    Days 8-9 - At sea

As we sail home you may want to rest after all your sightseeing. If you’re still full of energy, there‘s lots to fill your time - from quizzes, games and music recitals to walks on deck and dance classes. And of course there’s plenty of opportunity to enjoy all the tasty food options.
