  • At sea, Black watch

    Day 2 - At sea

As we sail towards Norway, you’re free to do as much (or as little) as you wish. Maybe start your day off with a brisk walk around the deck. Or opt for a yoga class. Spend the afternoon learning a craft, or perfecting your golf swing. After your choice of dinner, you can catch a show or dance into the night.

    Black Watch (3.5-star)

  • Stavanger, Norway (overnight)

Days 3-4 - Stavanger, Norway (overnight)

One part traditional wooden buildings, one part cosmopolitan city. This vibrant and exciting Norwegian city oozes charm, but behind that lies 1,000 years of seafaring tradition and history. The old town, Gamle Stavanger, is a web of narrow winding streets and ancient wooden houses gathered around a historic fresh fish and vegetable market. Outside of the hustle and bustle, Stavanger is also perfectly placed for the breathtaking Lysefjord, one of the most famous Norwegian Fjords. This stunning waterway is home to the Kjerag Mountain and Preikestolen (Pulpit Rock) - two of the country’s most popular attractions. We spend another day in Stavanger to soak up all the sights and sounds and set sail late in the evening of day 4.

  • Christmas Eve - At sea

Day 5 - Christmas Eve - At sea

With a variety of experiences, events, classes and much more to enjoy, each day on board can be as varied as you wish. Perhaps start your days with an energising early morning workout in the fully equipped fitness centre or refreshing walk on the open decks; try your hand at bridge, bingo, shuffle board and deck quoits after lunch, or perhaps indulge with a traditional afternoon tea; then in the evenings, enjoy sumptuous, five-course á la carte dining or a tasty buffet before catching a show - the choice is always yours.

    Black Watch (3.5-star)

  • Christmas Day - Crossing the Arctic Circle

Day 6 - Christmas Day - Crossing the Arctic Circle

Today is a sailing day, but one with a difference. We cross the Arctic Circle - a wishlist item for any adventurer. During the cold winter months, the sun stays below the horizon for most of the day and light is provided by the moon, stars and - if you’re lucky - the elusive Northern Lights. A memorable way to spend Christmas Day.

    Black Watch (3.5-star)

  • Boxing Day - Alta (overnight)

Day 7 - Boxing Day - Alta (overnight)

Early this evening we arrive in Alta, where we dock for the night. Alta is known as one of the best places on earth to witness the Northern Lights in winter, so keep your eyes peeled this evening for a chance to see them dance across the night stay. Northern Lights aside, Alta is a truly magical destination, strung out along the coast in the heart of some spectacular countryside. There is some fascinating cultural history to see here, including rock carvings at the Alta Museum that date from around 4200 to 500 BC. And the head of the Altafjord, where the Altaelva runs through the town, is said to have the best salmon fishing in the world. It may be possible to see the fish leaping up out of the river.

    Black Watch (3.5-star)

  • Alta

    Day 8 - Alta

We spend a second full day in Alta to explore further and set sail late this evening.

    Black Watch (3.5-star)

  • Tromsø

    Day 9 - Tromsø

The island city of Tromsø is one of northern Norway’s true delights. A major cultural hub above the Arctic Circle, its neo-classical architecture and sprawl of traditional wooden houses give it an irresistible old-world charm. Be sure to visit the striking Arctic Cathedral, inspired by the landscapes of Northern Norway, this iceberg-shaped building features a beautiful glass mosaic. For fantastic views of the city and the stunning landscapes that surround it, take the cable car to the top of the Storsteinen Mountain, which stands some 420 metres above sea level.

    Black Watch (3.5-star)

  • Narvik

    Day 10 - Narvik

Founded in 1903, Narvik is a relatively new city - but there’s still some fascinating history to be uncovered here. Other than its idyllic harbour edged by colourful wooden houses, the real appeal here is the city’s spectacular location. There are snow-topped-mountains in every direction, islands to the west and fantastic fjords to the north and south. A cable car ride from the centre of town to the viewpoint on the Narvikfjellet Mountain gives fabulous views over the Ofotfjord and surrounding area. In the town itself, the Ofoten Museum exhibits local history dating back 5,000 years and Narvik Church is a fine example of Scandinavian architecture.

    Black Watch (3.5-star)

  • At sea

    Day 11 - At sea

Today is free as we continue our cruise. Enjoy a hearty breakfast then take your pick from the variety of activities on board. Show off your general knowledge in an afternoon or evening quiz. Try your hand at bridge, bingo or deck quoits. Or indulge in a traditional afternoon tea to while away your time. Top off the day with a sumptuous dinner or a simple tasty buffet.

    Black Watch (3.5-star)

  • New Year’s Eve - Bergen (overnight)

    Day 12 - New Year’s Eve - Bergen (overnight)

Bergen, a colourful city steeped in maritime heritage and framed by hills and fjords. It is a real delight to explore, with cobbled stairways lined with traditional half-timbered houses. Bergen is picture-book Norway at its best. Don’t miss the opportunity to ride the Funicular Railway to the top of Mount Fløyen, offering spectacular panoramic views of Bergen and its scenic surroundings.

    Black Watch (3.5-star)

  • New Year’s Day - Bergen - Cruising Hardangerfjord

    Day 13 - New Year’s Day - Bergen - Cruising Hardangerfjord

Known as the ‘Queen of the Fjords’, Hardangerfjord is situated centrally in the heart of western Norway. The best way to experience this incredible fjord is to sail along its 197-km-long stretch of still, azure water. And that’s exactly what we’ll do this evening. Sit back and enjoy.

    Black Watch (3.5-star)

  • Cruising Karmsund

    Day 14 - Cruising Karmsund

A narrow waterway separating Karmoey is only navigable by smaller ships, such as ours, so we’ll enjoy this beautiful region that the larger ships can’t. As we set sail through the strait, we’ll take in views of pretty towns and gorgeous countryside scenes, stretching along the shores.

    Black Watch (3.5-star)

  • At sea

    Day 15 - At sea

As we sail towards home you may want to rest after all your adventures. If you’re still full of energy, there‘s lots to fill your time - from quizzes, games and music recitals to walks on deck and dance classes. And of course there’s plenty of opportunity to enjoy all the tasty food options.

    Black Watch (3.5-star)
