Norway’s Northern Archipelagos with Lofoten
Day 1 Liverpool
Titan's VIP door-to-door travel service collects you from home for your journey to Liverpool. Embark Black Watch (3.5-star), before we set sail this evening.
Days 2-3 At sea
Two free days as we begin our cruise. Enjoy a hearty breakfast then take your pick from the variety of activities on board. Show off your general knowledge in an afternoon or evening quiz. Try your hand at bridge, bingo or deck quoits. Or indulge in a traditional afternoon tea to while away your time. Top off the day with a sumptuous dinner or a simple tasty buffet.
Day 4 Kristiansund, Norway
Our first glimpse of Norway is Kristiansund on Norway’s Western Cape. A stunning open harbour, iconic modern architecture and the oldest opera house in Norway makes this city a very worthy stop on our itinerary. Perhaps stop by the Klippfisk (salted cod) museum to uncover some of the local history, or maybe opt to travel along the renowned Atlantic Road, one of Norway’s most photographed driving roads.
Day 5 Cruising Rørvik -Torghatten - Seven Sisters - Cross the Arctic Circle
Take your spot on the top deck this morning for some seriously scenic cruising. We’ll pass the irresistibly picturesque island village of Rørvik before sailing past Torget Island where we’ll spot one of Norway’s most famous wonders, Torghatten Mountain. Marvel at the huge tunnel that strikes straight through the middle of this mountain. This afternoon you can look forward to the majestic chain of peaks known as the Seven Sister mountain range before crossing the Arctic Circle - a true wishlist item for any explorer.
Day 6 Cruising Trollfjord - cruising Raftsundet - Sortland, Vesterålen
If you still have space for photos on your memory card after yesterday, you’ll be filling it up today as we cruise through some of Nordfjord county’s most spectacular scenes. Look out for sea eagles as we pass the rocky cliffs and steep mountains of Trollfjord, then watch in wonder as we glide through glass-like waters and past the rugged, low-lying rock faces of Rafstundet Strait. We’ll arrive in Sortland this morning with the day ahead to discover this unique destination in the Vesterålen archipelago. You’ll soon realise why the town is nicknamed ‘Blue Town’ - an initiative by artist Bjorn Elvenes saw almost the entire town painted different shades of blue at the start of the new millennium. Perhaps spend your day seeking out the natural treasures of this region. Rugged, unspoilt countryside landscapes and miles of gorgeous island coastline await - not forgetting the friendly seals and elusive whales.
Days 7-8 Tromsø (overnight)
We arrive in Tromsø this morning. One of Norway’s true delights, Tromsø is rich with neo-classical architecture and contains the largest number of wooden houses in Northern Norway. Its traditional charm is offset by more modern additions, including the must-see Arctic Cathedral, built in a distinctive iceberg design. You’ll have plenty of time to explore the city’s museums, or take in the view of Tromsø from above by riding the cable car to the peak of Storsteinen Mountain. With an overnight docking, we might even be lucky enough to spot the Northern Lights dance across the sky tonight.
Day 9 Leknes, Lofoten - Cruising by Reine, Lofoten Islands
Wild landscapes of jagged peaks, bright-white sandy beaches and a rich Viking history - it’s easy to see why Leknes is a sought after travel destination. The nearby village of Borg is home to a Viking museum, with exhibits of gold fertility figures, pottery and glassware plus regular displays of handicrafts. This evening we set sail and begin the journey back towards the UK, passing the breathtaking snow-capped granite peaks and flower-covered meadows of Reine along the way.
Day 10 At sea
Keep your brain active with the morning quiz, then perfect your dance moves in the afternoon with a beginners’ class. After dinner, you could continue the dancing theme and join the hosted dancing, or choose to watch the professionals instead.
Day 11 Lerwick, Shetland Islands
Today we visit Lerwick, the UK’s most northerly town and capital of the Shetland Islands. For an insight into our prehistoric past, the Clickimin Broch is a fascinating and well-preserved Iron Age fortified dwelling just outside town.
Day 12 At sea
As we sail home you may want to rest after all your sightseeing. If you’re still full of energy, there‘s lots to fill your time - from quizzes, games and music recitals to walks on deck and dance classes. And of course there’s plenty of opportunity to enjoy all the tasty food options.
Day 13 Liverpool
We disembark after breakfast, where your Titan vehicle will be waiting for the journey home.
