    As we sail towards Norway, you’re free to do as much (or as little) as you wish. Maybe start your day off with a brisk walk around the deck. Or opt for a yoga class. Spend the afternoon learning a craft, or perfecting your golf swing. After your choice of dinner, you can catch a show or dance into the night.

    Day 4 - Ålesund, Norway

    Norway. For an overview of the art-nouveau town of Ålesund and its surrounding islands, climb the 418 steps to the viewpoint at Mount Aksla. Back in the town, you’ll find a cluster of museums, galleries and cafés, plus restaurants serving traditional Norwegian fare. The city is also the gateway to the northwestern fjords.

    We’ll spend today cruising the scenic coast, passing Rørvik, Torghatten (Hat Mountain, and the Seven Sisters mountain range. We’ll also cross the Arctic Circle at 66°33'.

    Today we’ll arrive in Tromsø, an island city that’s something of a cultural hub. Browse the collections in its museums and galleries, and peek inside the iceberg-shaped Arctic Cathedral. Or perhaps take the cable car up to the top of Storsteinen Mountain for a panoramic view across the city and surrounding islands, mountains and fjords.

    As we sail into the most northernmost town, Hammerfest, we’ll be greeted by a lovely harbour. Surrounded by extraordinary coastal landscapes, mountains and sandy beaches, Hammerfest is a winner for taking scenic walks along the coastline. You’d be surprised how easy it is to orientate yourself in this picturesque town.

    Day 8 - Honningsvåg - Cruising by North Cape

    Enjoy Honningsvåg, set around a string of small bays. Discover the rocky coastline and picturesque villages of the North Cape, or go for a drink in the town’s ice bar, created with ice carved from the frozen lakes of Lapland.

    Day 9 - Harstad - Cruising Trollfjord

    Harstad is the gateway to the Lofoten and Vesterålen islands, chains of dramatic rocky isles that were carved up by fjords during the Ice Age. Walk the half-hour to the top of Mount Keipen for views towards the archipelago, or stay in town to discover an impressive World War II cannon and a 12th-century church.

  • Kristiansund

    Day 11 - Kristiansund

    Reaching out into the waters of Norway’s Western Cape on four, bridge-connected islands, the clean, open, operatic city of Kristiansund, and its stunning harbour, is impossible to ignore. Destroyed in the Second World War, nearly 80% of Kristiansund has been rebuilt since the 1940s. Reminders of pre-war Kristiansund still remain though, including the opera house - the oldest in Norway.
