Day 1 - Southampton
Titan’s VIP door-to-door travel service collects you from home for your journey to Southampton. Embark Balmoral (3T+) in preparation for a late afternoon sailing.
Days 2-3 - At sea
As we sail towards Norway, you’re free to do as much (or as little) as you wish. Maybe start your day off with a brisk walk around the deck. Or opt for a yoga class. Spend the afternoon learning a craft, or perfecting your golf swing. After your choice of dinner, you can catch a show or dance into the night.
Day 4 - Molde, Norway
Molde’s open-air Romsdal Museum is a great place to begin your Norwegian experience. This is one of the biggest folk museums in Norway, with over 50 historic buildings including farmhouses, smokehouses and a small chapel. If you want to take in Norway’s natural beauty, then opt for a drive along the incredible Atlantic Road - an eight-kilometre stretch of road that twists and soars along beautiful rocky coastlines, over the sea and through vast hills and mountains.
Day 5 - At sea
Spend the day on board. Maybe read a book and relax or choose to listen to a fascinating talk by a guest speaker. Enjoy lunchtime melodies or a piano recital, then walk a mile with the cruise fitness instructor.
Day 6 - Narvik
Although inhabited since prehistoric times, Narvik is a relatively new city, founded in 1903. It still has a classic Norwegian feel and has plenty of stunning Arctic sights on its doorstep, including the Narvikfjellet Mountain. A cable car ride from the centre of town up the mountain gives fabulous views over the Ofotfjord and surrounding area. The Ofoten Museum displays local history including 5,000-year-old rock carvings. Alternatively, head to the Polar Park to meet the area’s natural predators, including wolves, bears and lynx.
Days 7-8 - Alta (overnight)
Alta is one of the best places on earth to witness the Northern Lights in winter. We stay here overnight to give you the chance to see the lights dancing across the dark sky. The area has a fascinating cultural history, shaped by the indigenous Sami people. Rock carvings in nearby Hjemmeluft are believed to date from around 4200-500 BC. Now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the carvings on display in the Alta Museum are evidence of human activity in the far north during prehistoric times.
Day 9 - Tromsø
Tromsø’s most recognisable landmark is the iceberg-shaped Arctic Cathedral, which features a beautiful glass mosaic. There are many more things to see - museums and galleries in the city include the Perspektivet Museum, which has exhibits from Tromsø’s past, plus the Art Museum of Northern Norway and the Mack Brewery. Tromsø is also home to Polaria, an aquarium full of Arctic species; the friendly bearded seals always delight visitors. Alternatively, a cable car can whisk you to the top of the Storsteinen Mountain for fantastic views over the weather-beaten islands.
Day 10 - At sea
Keep your brain active with the morning quiz, then perfect your dance moves in the afternoon with a beginners’ class. After dinner, you could continue the dancing theme and join the hosted dancing, or choose to watch the professionals instead.
Day 11 - Ålesund
Ålesund is all about art nouveau. After a fearsome fire in 1904, the city was rebuilt in the style of the time, creating the visual extravaganza we still enjoy today. Visit the National Art Nouveau Centre -Jugendstilsenteret, or the KUBE art museum for exhibitions and displays. If you’re looking for adventure, maybe climb the 418 steps that ascend Mount Aksla, and enjoy a coffee at the top.
Days 12-13 - At sea
As we sail home you may want to rest after all your sightseeing. If you’re still full of energy, there‘s lots to fill your time - from quizzes, games and music recitals to walks on deck and dance classes. And of course there’s plenty of opportunity to enjoy all the tasty food options.
Day 14 Southampton
We disembark after breakfast and your Titan vehicle will be waiting for the journey home.
