Western Norway is a treasure trove of natural wonders - millions of years of glacial activity has created a uniquely spectacular coastline intricately carved by thousands of the world’s deepest, narrowest and most beautiful fjords, penetrating far into the country’s mountainous, snow-swept interior. A splendid cruise ship such as Braemar presents the perfect vantage point for admiring these awe-inspiring miracles of nature, with their dramatic sheer cliffs and plunging waterfalls, affording time both to unwind and to explore delightful ports of call such as Bergen.
Titan’s VIP door-to-door travel service collects you from home, for your journey to Southampton, where our staff will greet you and assist with embarking Braemar (3T+) in readiness for a late afternoon sailing.
Day 2 - At sea
A day at sea provides the perfect way to settle into onboard life. The social programme offers a choice of craft classes, concerts, films and lectures that provide fascinating insights into the ports of call that lie ahead.
Day 3 - Stavanger
This afternoon we arrive in Stavanger, a stunning coastal town often recognised for its rapid growth and work in the oil industry. Stepping off the port you will find charming 18th and 19th century wooded houses lacing the streets, the famous Stavanger Cathedral - a magnificent structure built in the city centre between 1100 and 1125 - and glistening waterfront, the perfect spot to sit back and enjoy the scenery. Stavanger is well placed for tours to the Lysefjord, one of the most famous and beautiful Norwegian Fjords, where Kjerag Mountain and Preikestolen (The Pulpit Rock) - two of the country's most popular attractions - are found. We depart late tonight.
Day 4 - Bergen
Early morning arrival in the ‘City of the Seven Hills’, where you can join an optional shore excursion by coach that illustrates the dramatic change in way of life that the local population have experienced during the last century, as it tours through the beautiful outskirts of Bergen in the fjord, lake and coastal districts. Whilst here, you may also like to explore the attractive renovated waterfront area with its colourful mix of cobbled streets, charming houses from the Hanseatic period, colonnaded shops and the fascinating fish market. We sail later tonight.
Day 5 - Flåm - Cruising Sognefjord and Nærøyfjord
Enjoy dramatic views as we arrive this morning in Flåm, a stunning village located at the innermost end of the magnificent Aurlandsfjorden. Flåm has become a popular cruise port for many reasons: its awe-inspiring fjord scenery, the Flåm Railway - reputed for its steep tracks and beautiful journey - and for its proximity to UNESCO-listed Nærøyfjord, which you can choose to explore in detail before we return to Braemar, to cruise along both this fjord and the scenic Sognefjord. Ship to shore tender service.
Day 6 - Olden - Cruising Nordfjord
Where Nordfjord divides into three arms, each fed by the Jostedalsbreen glacier, sits Olden. Around the town you can see spectacular waterfalls tumbling down the huge, near-vertical cliffs - the beautiful Oldedalen Valley extends for 12 miles behind Olden and is an absolute joy to explore. In Olden itself, little brooks babble between the pretty streets. Later, we cruise along one of Norway’s longest and most picturesque fjords - Nordfjord.
Day 7 - Cruising Akrafjord - Langfoss Waterfall - Karmsund
Take in more incredible scenery as we cruise along the Akrafjord, passing the mighty Langfoss Waterfall, considered one of the world’s finest, and then continue along Karmsundet, a narrow channel between Karmoey Island and Haugesund.
Day 8 - At sea
Take in a show this evening or enjoy a drink in the piano lounge.
Day 9 Southampton
